'Yotes would munch on them, I'm afeared, and don't got room in the coop... Or I would. It's okay, I don't actually mind brooding in the house... I had 3 chickens, 5 quail, a duck, and maybe another chicken all in the basement at one point, some were adults and some were babies. Just have to...
In what?
Building yet more secure pens would make me go broke, and my current ones are in use as hospital or integration pens.
Plus, I don't live in a lovely warm climate like you do, to say the least.
Logic seems to be gone out the window when you've just brought home 8 more with 8 on the way and 5 ducks as soon as they hatch.... Plus 5 eggs...
This is me trying to downsize for the summer, by the way. They're going to be going into a tiny temporary coop, so I wanted to make it easy on...
Until we're walking past the chick bins and see this darling little cutie that'll just die of loneliness if we don't bring it home. Feeling so sorry for it, and being such nice people, we obviously just ask the employee to box it up, and oh yeah that one too please...
Well, that's what we tell...
I need as many as I do for eggs. I use up enough that even with as many hens as I have I rarely have too many eggs. Any extras get sold to try and cover some feed costs. Actually, if I had more hens, I could easily pay for feed with egg sales cos there's enough of a market.
I just don't have...
I get those looks a bunch too.
The looks get even stranger when I say "Oh, yes, I also have 8 or so chicks in the basement, some eggs going, and more chicks and duckling coming soon."
Bad? It's frozen, ain't it?
Well, some of the salsa looked a bit funny after being frozen since 2013, but most of it gets used pretty quickly. I prepare most of my food from scratch. No frozen pizza meals here.
Got a whole chest freezer just for meat. One for other stored foods, such as salsa, beans, blueberries, and other garden produce, and another for current eating.
I like my hamburgers too much to be a vegetarian.
I buy beef from a local farmer now, a half cow at a time. Delicious and I know the steers were treated quite well before slaughter.
Kristin kindly showed me that YouTube has all the episodes for free. Never knew that before; but it's sure cheaper than buying the DVD.
Not worth it for me. I don't like movies or videos in general, and the ones I do like (mostly '50s and '60s shows) still strain my eyes after a few episodes.
