Well thought I was going to have a terrible hatch since the temps in my LG fluctuated from 93-105! I set 32 eggs and went with a dry hatch, did not add a single drop of water until day 10 or so when I added a sponge and added a small amount of water to the sponge. I did not candle at all, and...
yeah these arent shipped eggs so maybe there is still hope. I am trying a dry incubation as well, but looked like my humidity was way low so had to add a little bit of water. I'm thinking next time i am going to install a fan.
I have it in a closet so thought it would be a good place for it...I haven't adjusted the thermostat at all...the inside of the egg..since I have a wiggler is ranging from 96-100.5
well I am seriously doubting I am going to get a good hatch, my temps have been all over the place...even though i am covering the sides of the bator with towels:(
Very nice set up! Our last batch only hatched one chick and this chick was very upset that she was born all alone so she would protest/squeak all the time, I finally put in a stuffed rottweiler toy and she loved it. Then went out and bought her 3 buddies...which she proceeded to...
Make sure you calibrate the hygrometer, this is what I got for my 'bator http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2752691
and http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2752560 I put the probe in the water wiggler so I know what the temp is inside the eggs, should be 99.5 in...

I think the temp was low probably because you had opened the bator. I would get a hygrometer if you can... from what I have read you don't want high humidity for the first 18 days but once you get to lockdown you will want to add sponges and towels and such.
lol I should have read before posting... yeah where do you sell your chicks (how do you market them?)... chicks in my local feed stores are constantly selling out
For those looking for good hygrometers that fit nicely into 1 egg slot (on the egg turner), I found mine at petsmart in the reptile section...calibrated it and it was dead on.
I just set 32 eggs in my LG. I'm thinking of trying the dry hatch method...currently 40% humidity in my incubator (did not add any water). I don't plan on opening the incubator until day 18...when I may candle or may not....and then will add wet towels to get humidity over 60%. How many people...
I am new to hatching, planning on putting eggs in on Monday. I am wondering if hand turning is detrimental to the hatch since the 'bator is constantly being opened and the temp/humidity will always be fluctuating...
