Quote: I used to have a house rooster. I did notice that he would crow when in distress or when he was just plain bored. Sometimes he would crow nonstop when he didn't have enough food or water, and sometimes he would crow when he was bored and wanted to go outside. And sometimes he just crow...

@MsChickenMomma Hey, it's been a while! I haven't posted on this thread for a while either. You remember me, right? I have the black silkie-Cochin named Ebony. I'm glad to see that Sunni is still doing well and that she has a new companion! Stephen is adorable. I love those mini roosters! I...

That's not normal. Try cleaning out her waterer with hot water and soap and when you refill it add some apple cider vinegar. I also add a little Sav-A-Chick Probiotic powder. This has happened to my girls several times before and that usually does the trick.

Oh my goodness! Well that is so great of you to save her! I hope she can at least somewhat recover. And if not, that cart looks like it will support her very well.

Very cute! You can tame your chick by just spending a lot of time with it and always being gentle and soft. Hand feeding treats and food can really help too.

Has anyone found that keeping chickens indoors is bad for their lungs? One of my girls has been sniffling a little lately and I'm not sure if it's just because they've been inside.

A lot of you probably don't recognize me but I used to post on this thread a lot before I got really busy. I went out on a limb and took 2 of my 3 house hens to the county fair. I was kind of nervous to try it because I didn't know how they would react with all the commotion and small...

Hi ChickyChickens, I love your username! I saw this picture and I was wondering; what breed is that hen? She is beautiful! She looks almost like a Speckled Sussex version of my Ebony. This is Ebony Edited to add: I just saw that you said she is an EE. To me she doesn't really look like an...

I use large guinea pig/rabbit cages for my girls. I have 2 large ones, a medium one and a small one that I connect together for my girls. I line the bottom with newspaper and fill it with pine chips and replace it every other day. I also keep a timed light on so that they can have more normal...

Hey everyone, I haven't been on here in a while. School is winding down and that means that the teachers are panicking and throwing tons of homework and projects at us. Today we got a letter on our front door from the city saying that one of our neighbors had complained about our chickens. The...

My roosters have crowing 'wars' and it is super annoying. They also have regular wars where they all-out fight, but I've always caught them before either one has gotten seriously hurt. They're always separated but a few times they have gotten out and fought with each other. It's kinda scary and...

My hen Ebony crows. She does it sometimes if I don't take her outside right after she lays an egg. I actually got it on video once! I didn't actually get her in the video, but I got the sound.
