Anyone using garlic in their ff and feeding to a mix flock? I have chickens, ducks and geese and have been using powdered garlic and oregano in the ff I feed since early spring, with no ill effects but someone posted on the duck thread that feeding garlic to ducks was harmful and I haven't been...
I have been doing my FF in my feed room since the days have turned warm [finally got it out of my bathroom] but can it get too warm to do ff? it's been getting around 80 in there even keeping a fan running. I'll bring it back in if I have too but thought I'd ask first. Thanks.
yes you should. I like to use natural, it's the only thing I have in the med chest beside iodine, I have a hen that I have been using Nustock on her foot she started getting bumble but it's gone down and no redness or heat now, I bet your stuff would work on it too.
http://herbs.lovetoknow.com/Ichthammol_Ointment Thanks for the link pigeonguy, I didn't know what is is and this explains it and whats in it. Similar to Nustock but has other herbs too so i'll be adding it to my med chest.
And why would we use it unless needed? I mean if one isn't sick why would we be adding it to our ff? unless it does more like improving immune system. I'll have to do more reading. I can understand why they would use it in factory farms situations but back yard not so sure.
Great ideas aoxa, mine is in the bathroom downstairs right now so the only drawback would be if we had unexpected company, they might not like the smell of the ff in their bathroom, but you have to lift the lid to smell it. But if i had as many birds as you I'd have to figure another setup out side.
I keep my ff on the dry side I never see any bubbling but it's still ff. I keep 2 buckets going so the second bucket has a chance to sit a couple days before I use it.
