Sorry, I wish you were closer. I've been practicing wing sexing at 1-2 days old. I kept 20 from my first 5 dozen hatch, wing sexed them and leg banded them as to which sex I thought they were. Looking like I only miss guessed 1 cockerel and 1 pullet out of 20, not to bad. They are now 8 weeks...

19 of my BBS JG eggs in the hatcher, due to hatch tomorrow, 1/3 of them are pipped. Still have 10 three week olds and 13 one and half week olds in my brooders. Sales have slowed down from Feb and March.

I have 4 really nice blue cockerels in my 7 week olds that I hatched out.

I used to have 4 buff Orpington hens that ran with my JGs. When I hatched out their chicks they were a chocolate color mostly. A friend still has 6 of them that are a year old now. They made brown to reddish hens, but are noisy like the buffs.

Some pics of my BBS six weeks olds from my flock. A few of these are also JG x ameraucana -- giant Easter eggers that I was playing with. I only kept two blacks, one pullet and one cockerel. Have 10 very nice blues and 3 splash that are JGs.

Another pic of BBS chicks, have 23 that hatched yesterday. All sorts of fuzzy butts in my hatching room: 23 JG, 45 jumbo coturnix quail 4 days old and 2 just hatched royal palm poults- waiting on number three!

I'll try to take another pic from the top when my next group hatches that will show the color better than the front view does. And a pic of my five week olds that are growing out nicely.

Yes. The black are always obviously black. The blues are anywhere from dark to light. The splash are yellow as babies then grow in the white feathers. I have found a lot of people trying to call the lighter blues splash, but in my experience only the yellow chicks grow up to be splash adults.

I took this pic a couple of hatches ago to show all three colors for my sale add. I kept some from my first hatch for some new breeders, they are 5 weeks now. I'll try to get a new pic with all three colors again.

I use 18x18 nest boxes and all my girls fit just fine. My biggest hens do almost fill them, but no frayed tails here. I get complements all the time from people buying my eggs for eating, they say JG eggs taste better. They hate hatching season because I don't have near as many eating eggs for...

Hatched out 62 JG on Thursday and had all but 16 sold by Sunday evening. :D. 6 more dozen in the bator now.

Black, blue and splash Jersey giant chicks I put 52 in the hatcher that passed candling at 2 weeks, didn't have time to candle when putting in hatcher. Have 48 hatched so far, 25 blacks, 3 splash and the rest blues. I only have 3 blue hens to breed to my blue Roos so only a few splash...
