Hunter here too! Looks like this storm may go a different direction, but still hoping everyone is safe!!
Good looking Rooster! And congrats on the babies.
Several of my hatches, the second pip actually hatches first, and I've read others experience that many times too. Continued good...
So sorry for you having to go through that. Its a horrible thing, but part of being a chicken keeper. I'm glad that you were able to do what was right by her, and not let her suffer any more. Hugs and prayers sweetie.
Yeah!!
@generaldsherman - way too early for me to guess sex on those little ones. I'm seeing bolder combs on some of my 3 week olds, hoping I dont have as many males as I think...
@Joplus did yours make it out?
Beautiful chicks! I've also used sponges (microwaved in water to kill bacteria). And I've used a shot glass too, because I didn't need too much more. Bowls are ok, just make sure if a chick hatches, that it can't get in the bowl and drown. Humidity depends on surface area of the water, not how...
Sorry... and CONGRATS... and good luck on the rest!
You can also stop turning the chicken eggs. I've known people to stop after day 14 with no ill effects. As long as your air cells on the chickens have grown well, those few days shouldn't hurt much.... JMO
I believe that sticky goo is usually from humidity fluctuations throughout incubation. I'm so sorry about the one that died on you. I had that happen too, and its just awful. Hoping for the best for the rest!
:hugs
Nice! What color are your sebrights and OEGBs? That little mix chick is already getting longer legs, and standing more upright. Its a friendly little chick. I'll post more pics as it changes.
