Chlorine off-gassing occurs relatively quickly. You can spray or mop surfaces, and as they dry, the chlorine evaporates along with the water.

I see no harm in giving the probiotic along with an antibiotic. I've done this and seen no downside. But I question giving the cephalexin indefinitely. It risks becoming ineffective as bacteria develops resistance and also can create a new infection from these bacteria.

The cobra gyrations is most commonly caused by a crop disorder, usually sour crop or yeast. It caused very uncomfortable sensations and a chicken will move their neck trying to make it less uncomfortable. No, wry neck is not usually treated with an antibiotic. Wry neck is neurological and is...

The recommendation of a ratio of calcium to phosphorus is 1:1 for moderate layers and 1:2 for prolific layers. Usually, you wouldn't need to worry about this as phosphorus is added to commercial feeds. You can't know if the hen is deficient without a blood test.

I don't see a video. If it's that Google link, I can't open it because Google is evil after all they said in the beginning. Post videos to You Tube and copy the URL. When they redesigned this web site, my favorite feature to come out of it was that videos will embed once you paste the link, and...

I agree with all of the things @Allsfairinloveandbugs has suggested. It can't hurt. Gotta do something. I would also suggest giving some sugar water with vitamins in case she's fallen behind in nourishment and is weak from hunger. It could elevate her glucose and give her energy to start eating...

Chicken can't stand or walk, paralyzed??

There is no need to continue with the cephalexin. It's likely done all it can do at this time. The behavior of the chicken patient is indication of how well the antibiotic is working. With such positive results, it's apparent the ceph has done its job.

I thought you were already giving her the cephalexin. It's definitely called for since we know she's passing this lash material which indicates infection. It may be too late, but it's always worth a try.

That's where you would feel fluids from EYP if it feels more like a water balloon than fat. Give her one of each per day as long as she's in this current state.

Get the calcium citrate. It is what I recommend for hen reproductive crises because this form acts much quicker than the other kinds. Then order a bottle of D3 and when you pop the calcium pill follow with the tinier D3 gel cap. The D enhances the absorption of the calcium. It's the difference...

Calcium affects contractions that will help expel any sort of obstruction except a tumor. So, yes, calcium helps expel lash material. This is desirable. Lash material building up causes more bacteria to grow, shortening the hen's life.

The abdomen of a chicken is the lower part of the body between the legs just in front and back of the legs. The problem with trying to reach inside the vent with your fingers to grab an egg is the egg may still be sitting in the shell gland (uterus), and you wouldn't be able to retrieve it from...

Chicken can't stand or walk, paralyzed??

Let's be clear as to why you are going to treat her with cephalexin. It's an antibiotic to treat bacterial infection, and that is what salpingitis is. The antibiotic will not improve or affect egg quality or even help a hen lay an egg. Salpingitis is a very stubborn reproductive infection that...

Our dear little Ethel may live out her normal life span with few issues, or these pus plugs could cause blockages that could cause a crisis if an egg tries to navigate the oviduct and gets stuck. Stopping ovulation as @Allsfairinloveandbugs suggested is one way to prolong her life and...

That is salpingitis pus, also known as lash material. It indicates infection of the oviduct that is likely well underway and will be resistant to treatment with an antibiotic. Unfortunately.
