I have a flock of 20 or so juvenile Lavender splits for sale split approximately evenly between males and females. PM if interested. I will NOT ship, and am in northwest New Mexico. Pictured are the sire and one of the dams. These are project birds.

No major problems. Pretty young still. Eye color changes with age and should be consistent among the varieties. I would like to see more even color. How is his size?

Quote: Yea, he isn't in a show stance either, and the lighting makes it difficult to evaluate his color, so.......no comment.

I haven't seen that fluff at the base of the tail in Lavs, more in the Wheatens. I agree on the leakage. Not sure on the eye color. I've seen that improve after this age. I think there are better birds to be had out there.

I would sell it as a layer, not to be included in a breeding program. JMO.

These genes are carried at separate loci, so a bird can be homozygous for recessive white and the Lav gene.

Nice, I don't know what lines are behind bargin's birds, but those are decent birds. Hard to judge the finer details from these photos. I see you are in Michigan. One of the foremost Ameraucana breeder, John Blehm, is in MI. You might consider seeing if he has any started stock he would...

Hi Samantha, Please post pictures of your lavenders and we can give you an idea of what you need to improve them. A picture of them standing from the side works best. This variety is still a work in progress, and there are a variety of thing we are all trying to improve. Clare

I should be more specific. The Lavs I used in my present lines are only from Harry, and the Blacks were only from Paul. I have not received and Lavs or Splits from Paul. I have not purchased any Lavs since 2010, only working with what I had.

If you ever get in a jam again Harry, My Lavs are strictly yours and Pauls lines. I have hatched my f3 splits (f2 Lavs hens x Black Smith cock). Incubators are OFF.

Lavender/Self Blue is a project color that I hope will be accepted into the standard in the near future. IMO (let the butthurt begin) only Black Ameraucanas should be crossed into this color for improvement. That said, anyone with a male and a female chicken can breed them together and call...

He is in TX isn't he? A bit of a drive, but it a great show. High powered competition for such an out-of-the-way show. If he needs directions or anything, feel free to have him contact me. Will he be going to Shawnee, OK? That might be a good one for him, though I keep hearing references to...

My post wasn't entirely about you, but many want basic lessons in genetics/hatching/raising/culling/showing spoon fed to them. I hope you find some good stock. There is still a lot of work to be done. Single combs, clean faces, major color faults, feather stubs on shank are still lurking...

Me too, but I am more concerned with type at the moment.. I hatched a few Lav from them this year (unintended). I didn't get them separate from the Lav cock and in with my Black cock soon enough. Hopefully, their chicks will hatch Black (split) tomorrow. Guess, I will have a few young Lavs...

Truthfully, I think all this talk of lavs being difficult to find is bizarre. I received eggs from both the people I contacted in 2010. I have sold eggs here on the 24 HR auction thread. "Breeders" whom I have sold eggs to in the last few years are now selling eggs. That said, I do NOT...
