OMG Everybody! Remember that I was hatching some Empordanesa eggs on Dec 31/Jan 1st? Well by am Jan 1, I had 3 hatch. Because my temps had been low the first few days until I figured out how to get it up without roasting them, (Little Giant) I decided to keep the bator running for a while...
So a third Empordanesa hatched out overnight. The 9 eggs that are left are starting to worry me, though. No external pips. I can't really hear anything without opening the bator so..... I guess I will keep my fingers crossed that it is due to the trouble I had keeping the temp steady the first...
I've been having trouble with the humidity in my incubators also. Usually I have no problems.... yesterday it got to 80% and it freaked me out. Hope you get yours under control, Joe
I do the same thing as pink chick.... Also, I live in the county in San Diego, and I have a couple of acres, so I can keep a lot of chickens. You got to hatch a lot to get enough girls for replacement layers, too. But, I usually sell my cockerels in pairs with females and find them good homes.
