Fill out the form on Ideal's page that says request to be notified when the have some and they will call you when you do not expect a call. A few of us here have gotten out birds this way. But order lots of chicks as you will need to cull most of them that a deficient in some way like no crest...
Because of my proclivity of shopping on-line, I can not have a paypal account. So if some one will take postal money orders for eggs purchases I buy for them. This is just my problem but as easy as it is to get an account it is easier to use it. Therefore some of us do not allow ourselves to...
JENN-E it took a while for my little brabanter hen to lay and she still skips a day now and then. But she is adventurous as the others especially when I replace the water bucket. She is first to fly to the top for a better drink of course she is also the smallest hen.
I feel a need to post more egg pictures !
on the right are mondays eggs. Tuesdays eggs are on the left side. The bigger white egg is from my Brabanter pullet and the tiny white egg from my Showgirl. i think the size of the Brabanter egg is very good compared to the size of the little...
jenn-e , the are gorgeous. Tomorrow I will start to incubate of few of my little girls eggs. I know that they are fertile. I am looking forward to seeing your flock as they have grown. Looks as if you have a good variety of birds.
Yes there are so may nice breeds that it is very hard to refrain from acquiring more and more. I ordered chicks already and plan on hatching some. Both for the beginning of March. Since our altitude is only 2350 feet it should be warmer by then and I will only need to keep them in the brooder...
Speckled eggs are from my larger Welsummer. I have two and they have nice personalities, one is large and full with a small comb and the other is scrawny and lays solid eggs. The are not full grown yet. Do you have plan to purchase any chicks this spring.
Yes I could be happy without a rooster. Don't worry I was just joking. I am not sure if they like be handled but I consider it necessary so they know that I am boss. I noticed the hens are more calm when they are laying maybe it is "the hormone thing" > I did take the pictures but they are...

My friend from Artesia is here so are you sure you don't want a cockerel ??? They are OK. I...
My Brabanters are now six months old and as pretty as ever but the cockerels have become competitive. So I put the cockerel with the best color pattern in a separate area because the other cock has the best crest. AAnnnnnnd today I found my first Brabanter pullet egg. boy I am impressed with...
I like my chickens and am happy that I have found a new but temporary home. Although none of my birds are perfect, I like and enjoy them. The Brabanters roosters surprised me and it was hard for me to decided their fate. Because there are so pretty and unique it was difficult to cull them as I...
Have been asking for this thread to be listed on the Breed Site list by Hickjc/Jody.
I have good news. I can keep my birds at a friends place within walking distance. I live only two blocks to city limits and could have chickens if my neighbors **&&^%TT
So that means that I can watch my pretty...

Me too because they are pretty nice. I did order pullets but you know how that goes. This morning the boys had a little crowing contest until I enter their run. I am still trying to decide their fate !
Oh and thank...
Mine are four months old and the two roosters are still challenging each other. I did hear one try to crow on occasion. I hope they remain quite until I get to rehome them or find someone who will keep them for me.
Finally I was able to upload this picture of my one hen with a rooster in the...
