Ive never seen one like that. I had a wheaten hatch...but it was more yellow/gold. hmmm

any idea how much longer with your batch under the broody?

I havent had much luck since the eggs are sooooo dark. This last batch, I only checked them at day 10, and threw out the clear ones.... beyond that, just sit back and wait.

Im very surprised, Kristie I havent hatched anymore...but I did pick up some EE chicks. I based my purchase on having more roos than 1. Ive never tried to hatch with a broody...that was my plan when I bought my opr last year, but I sold her earlier this spring. We'll see how this batch grows...

well, I lost the two that I helped out......so that puts me at 9. I agree with you Kristie..... Im more than ready to put the bator away and jsut hang out with the chicks

I took a quick peak in the bator before heading out today. Looks like another one escaped its shell last night.that puts the count at 11.. however, the wheaten, while still alive, hasn't moved from where I left it last night.

now we are at 10. Hope they are all still kicking in the morning.

This hatching business is for the birds......LOL. our of the 28 eggs that went into lockdown, Ive got 7 wild maniacs running around, two that zipped 3/5 of the way and stopped and two with a pip hole. The ones that stopped.....I could reach in through one of the vents in the top and pic at...

Hmmm....I was hoping for better. three have hatched, two blue and one black, two have a pip. There are a lot of them that dont seem to be doing anything....but Ill leave them and see what happens.
