8 Chicks hatched, one still pipped, hoping he will make it out. keeps ticking its beak out of the hole, but there seems to be blood around the hole? We had one hatch right at 11pm, so it was new years in a different time zone, LOL!
We decided to follow the rest of you all and go to a movie. Checking out Puss and Boots at the dollars theater. Have three more pipped hoping they will hatch soon! 6 chicks already, a couple are going to need boots for curled toes, I suspect due to the temp swings, but all pretty healthy so far!

I have one like this too. I am thinking of putting some damp paper towel around it to keep it from getting stuck. I had one that took 39 hours to hatch, so don't worry too much.
So I go up every three hours (the joy of being pregnant) to check on the hatch. 2 others hatched before this little guy that had pipped 39 hours before, finally at 6 am, I noticed he decided to start a whole new pip and had gotten all the around was was stuck, with his butt up between the eggs...
Holy crap I have one that has already pipped! I set a day early, and I knew silkies hatched early, but dang! I can't believe I had one pip early after loosing power to the bator twice!
Question the membrane looks a bit dry and the humidity was at 55% I added some stuff to bump it up a bit, but...

Yes. Should be all dark except for a light air cell at the top (blunt end) of the egg.
Congrats!
I could not see an air cell, its that just my inexperience in candling? Ot lack of a really bright flashlight?

A bit early aren't they?
i put them in on the 6th. soo there right on time actully. counted the 7th at the first day
I meant early hatching for the New Years Hatch, you know its still several days away.
Candled some of my silkie eggs. I had two that I could tell were clear the rest looked like they had babies because they were so dark i couldn't see much. I would assume they were dark because the baby was formed right?
Uggh, my incubator got unplugged AGAIN! Off for about 2 hours, lucky I caught is and plugged it back in. I am worried if I will get any chicks this hatch.
Question? I have one egg that looks like it has developed spots on it. Like darker brown coloring. It dose not appear to be weeping, and I can not remember if this egg came to me this way. Is this a bad egg? It dose not smell at all.
