thanks for the updates my dear friend... I love them... can you take pics of the cockerel shanks? thanks.. the reason the hen has blue earlobes is due to the fibromelanotic expression on her skin... thats why
my boys(when grown up) run away from me(except when I´m about to fee them) the hens whe I approach them they think I´m about to mount them and do the mating stance... thats how it works when you are boss
edit. keep us updated as they grow ok..
thanks
Marvin
wow... they do... look at my boy´s shank.. they are getting darker and darker as he age.. by the time he is a young rooster he will have all black/slate shanks... and look at her she is a beauty
Melanotic(Ml) and Pg(pattern gene) are the genes responsible for the lacing found on your laced wyandotte, they are melanizers, thats why your chicks look very black, they may end up almost black depending on what other genes where hidden on the white silkie side
Only 50% of them(boys and girls) and 50% will lack Fibromelanotic altogether(if crossed to a none fibromelanotic bird)...
its hard to tell these heterozygotes once you introduce a none fibromelanotic bird(to bring new cool colors, or feather type like frizzle) to your silkie breeding program...
Fibromelanotic: autosomal gene, this means there are two copies of this gene in a pure silkie rooster, your zizzle silkie rooster my look pure on all silkie aspects but he is lacking another copy of this gene, he is a Fibromelanotic heterozygote(Fm/fm+) therefore he cant be used as a sex linked...
