    Backyard Brahmas!!

Thank you everyone! Love those girls, and they crack me up with the "ostrich run" when I give treats, lol. All the little chicks are so cute!

    Backyard Brahmas!!

Just a few updated photos of my GL Brahmas! Lovely girls they are...and so different in personality from each other! They still have some filling out to do for sure, but they are only 7 months old...Cinnamon (who we questioned the gender of) was the first to lay an egg!

    Backyard Brahmas!!

The darks are GORGEOUS! Wanted some, but DH wanted project, I like GL too, so it was the compromise. One of ours has really great type, one is the biggest bird and is still going (7 months old and is almost 7 lbs!), she has VH though unfortunately.....then the poor 3rd one, she's a bit small...

    Backyard Brahmas!!

I miss my SFH, but LOVE my GL Brahmas! They dwarf even my Wyandotte that is older. None of my birds are even a year (only 7 months), but the Brahmas are more than knee height already! Jersey Giants are also on my list (heritage BBS) for the future.....

    Backyard Brahmas!!

Trooper, I have seen some hatching eggs for sale on both, but no live chicks or started birds at all....definitely no breeders that I have seen. Best of luck to you! The project colors are fun, and Brahmas are so nice! Also saw you over on the SFH thread, Bulldogma and KIForgot both have...

    Backyard Brahmas!!

PICTURES! Haven't even started up my bator yet, so any chick pictures are great and vicarious living, lol. Can't wait to see your babies! How are the other (non Brahma) eggs doing?

    Backyard Brahmas!!

Trooper, I think Sally Sunshine is still working with them, but not sure. Have you checked any of the project Brahma pages? It's also really picking up in the BST area of this site, so you can look in hatching eggs and in chicks to see if any have become available yet. Good luck on your search!

    Backyard Brahmas!!

Thought I'd share some pics of how big the girls are getting...plus they were so excited to be out with much of the snow melting! It's hard to get good pictures, they were either heads way up watching the squirrels or butts up looking for goodies.....

    Backyard Brahmas!!

Absolutely! It took quite a bit of back and forth with the city and did get a bit ugly, but in the end we were able to keep all 9 of our birdies! They are so much fun!

    Backyard Brahmas!!

Just thought I'd share some updated photos of my GL Brahmas! These littles (well not so little now) are just at 6 months old. You can VERY clearly see the VH on Pepper. Ginger (the lightest) is gorgeous in her proportion to me, and Cinnamon has finally come out of the runty look and is really...

    Backyard Brahmas!!

Our girls are crowding to get out even with snow....save one faverolle, Mango. She will stand on your shoes, other hens, whatever there is so that her feet don't touch the evil white stuff! I only had 2 pullets laying, but both have quit in the last week. It has been all clouds and snow, only...

    Backyard Brahmas!!

Taken a week and a half, 2 weeks ago, the GL Brahmas are obvious, and getting big.....thinking all girls at this point, as other than some more feathers and a little size, they haven't changed much. Of course there are some other breeds there, lol, and this was the old makeshift free range waterer.

    Backyard Brahmas!!

Some updated pics of my GL Brahmas! Pepper is our favorite of the 3, I know now that the VH is bad, but it's why I picked that chick! Looks kinda like my puffy butt dogs! All 3, plus my Columbian Wyandottes puff Pepper (darker) and Ginger (lighter) Cinnamon, getting a dust bath...

    Backyard Brahmas!!

"Cinnamon" just looks different in a few ways than the others. Less feathering all around so far, and it's the one with a little bit of wattles showing. It's also the most "leggy" one in the group, compared to the body. The primary feathers are also a little more split in color than the other...
