Plain cooked meats like boiled chicken and turkey are safe, healthy high-value treats. They are surprisingly easy to prepare too, and can be portioned into daily "rations" and frozen.

Can anyone tell me about puppy vaccinations vs. the need for socialization with other dogs? I know many people who worry about their unvaccinated/partially vaccinated puppy getting parvo or another disease don't let them directly interact with other dogs or go on walks where the puppy could come...
That makes sense. For those in our family who are allergic, it is like an asthmatic response that becomes more apparent over time and doesn't always set in right away.
Jax is a six-year-old mixed breed (part (?) terrier, probably part poodle and perhaps chihuahua). He is a great, "easy" dog around the house, but was never worked with consistently so he pulls on leash and cannot be trusted to perform any command without a treat right in front of him. Very smart...

I tested my training skills on my relatives' dog Jax today, and...it appears that I need some practice. His focus was on the hand with the treats 100% of the time, and he was definitely getting overexcited and impatient. At least now I know what I need to work on: calm...
