While all of my Orloffs (even my breeders) are very non-aggressive towards people, I definitely WOULD NOT try to incorporate this pair into a flock of chicks that are THAT young. But that goes for any breed...it's never good to try to mix birds that have a big difference in age.

The Orloff is no longer recognized by the APA (American Poultry Association), so finding a current breed standard is not possible. Most breeders use the old SOP which can be found somewhere in BYC, maybe in this thread, but I haven't found it yet.
I've got some cull bantam Orloff pairs for sale in Facebook (Star Bright Farm is my id). They have hardly any spangling on them...but they're young and may molt out completely different.
My Orloffs are super hardy birds. They definitely love the winter more than the summer. I have to pay...
Welcome Sarplaninac! We're so glad you found this thread. PLEASE post pics of your Orloffs when you get a chance. We just LOVE seeing pics of everyone's birds!
If anyone in the MI area is interested, I have a nice pair of juvenile spangleds for sale. I suppose I could ship, but it would...
Nicholas...I may be TOTALLY wrong since I'm not "familiar" with Kummer's stock...but I think you've got 2 pullets. Their legs look "girlish" to me...not very thick like most Orloff roos. And they appear to carry themselves low in comparison to a rooster. But bear in mind...I'm basing my...

Yay!!! I'm so happy for you!
As for the comb question...at 2 months old, MOST Orloff roos will not be pinking up. You stand a better chance of sexing them based on their stance and leg thickness. It can take a really long time to sex them by comb color.
That's just the thing with Orloff roosters, though...I, myself, have NEVER had an aggressive one. Not one of the many roosters I've owned has ever showed even the slightest bit of attitude towards me. That does make it hard to serve them for dinner...but if I can't get rid of them, it's either...

If I could ship I would. But you come get 'em and you can have all seven.
Are you going to eat them? You should and let me know how they are....
I had one of my Orloff roosters processed a few weeks ago. He was around 8 months old. I made teriyaki chicken and rice with him, and...
My little roo is a sweetheart, too. Never shown me any aggression at all. When I put my hand in the pen with a treat, he's the first to come up and take the treat to "beak feed" it to his ladies himself. Even when I catch my girls, he doesn't really get upset...I guess he knows I'm not...

You're a dear...I didn't think ANYTHING of it. I'm in such wonderful company here amongst all of you. I absolutely meant no offense to Rare Feathers Farm when I chimed in...she has really nice stock. A database would be nice for folks to see if there's anyone local to their part of...

Don't be sorry...it's hard to keep up with what everyone has. But I'm flattered you checked out my website. I don't have my bantams on my website yet. I just got them last fall and haven't taken the time to get good pics of them this winter. And yes, I do have cuckoos...got eggs...

I have them, too, but I currently have a waiting list for eggs. I'm getting ready to start hatching for myself, and then I'll be working on my list.
Here's my first 2 babies of the year...hatched last Thursday. Ideally, Orloff chicks' legs are orangey yellow at hatch and will stay that way through maturity.
