Go to the APA website and see what the latest addition is and then you will know if yours is outdated. For Buckeyes the standard hasn't changed in close to 50 years so no worries there if yours is an older addition.

I've seen coyotes take off with one of my buckeye roosters in his mouth. So, I wouldn't say they are the best to protect the flock. Hellbender is referencing LGDs for protection. With those you're looking at close to 2 years before they can be trusted protecting the flock alone.

The Master Exhibitor ranking is even more impressive if you look at the points that it took to accomplish this in an short amount of time. All of the points were from Buckeye wins except for one Aseel rooster at ON several years ago. To me this shows what you've accomplished for the Buckeye...

LOL I was there. Yes, it was a great weekend for Buckeyes in Connersville IN. Congratulations to BlueFace aka Joe Shumaker for taking Reserve Champion American with his Buckeye Pullet. We all had fun and it was nice seeing Indiana and Ohio faces I've not seen in awhile.

Hi Amy. Jeff Lay may be talked into sending some hatching eggs. Most breeders have stopped hatching this time of year to allow the hens to molt and rebuild their stamina for hatching season. I'll PM you information :-)

Congrats Joe sounds like a great weekend for you. Keep it rolling and getting those beautiful bucks recognized for all of us throughout the U.S. who have show/utility flocks. The more who see them, then more will start learning and loving this dual purpose bird.

No worries Seminolewind. It's good to be passionate about bio security. If we breeders/hobbyists aren't concerned then big brother will step in and shut down the ability to have our breeding/show stock. People need to think of the big picture and make sure they are not adding to the...

"Limited experience" has put more Buckeyes on champ row than all other breeders combined. Did you know that if a bird is a carrier of Mareks it then transfers to its "offspring" genetically? Science/genetics are fascinating things.
