I have to say that a JG crow is much deeper than a bantam and not as ear piercing. It is kinda pleasant in a way. I rehomed some JG roos and when I visit them I actually love hearing how deep a crow they have.
I think I got 5 splash. The black and blue are tricky. Some are clearly blue, some are clearly black but the majority are somewhere in between. I'll tell you what though, the Olive Eggers are gorgeous!!
Those are some good looking little babies :-)
Out of 31 eggs, 31 pipped, 1 died in the shell (I think it drowned as it pipped in the wrong area) and 1 died after hatching (I had to help it hatch and didn't think it would make it)
So I can't believe that I ended up with 29 babies out of 31...
Sit down for this one...
Only ONE has not pipped!!
If all goes well today and the last one does not pip, I will have a 97% hatch on SHIPPED EGGS!!
I helped out the stuck one... she actually seems really healthy... just exhausted.
Good morning! Sorry about not getting the webcam up. I didn't have the energy (personal issues are wearing me out and that is why I hatch... to help me cope )
But I now have 21 hatched and 8 pipped and 2 with nothing going on yet.
I have a dilemma though... those darn Olive Eggers hatched a...
I need to invent an incubator that gives you the ability to reach inside the bator and touch the newly hatched babies without risking a humidity drop.
Whoa... two more are pipped and they are the olive eggers...
I didn't expect any to hatch until Friday mid-morning so I didn't set up the webcam..
I have two blue so far...
Gonna try to get the cam up tonite or tomorrow morning.
None of my JG are pipped yet but TWO of the olive eggers you sent me hatched between 24 and 36 hours EARLY and another olive egger is pipped way early too!!
I don't know how or why but I have peeping in the bator a day early

THANK YOU!
I love chickens.
I love my Jersey Giants.
That's all I care to talk about here.
I am in FULL LOCKDOWN mode :-)
Hatch day is Friday... Whoooo Hooooo
In the next few days they should have some wing feathers grow in and that is when you can tell what colors you have. Just from my limited experience...
Hi there... Just wanted to say that I received 31 JG eggs (plus 10 olive eggers) from KathyInMo... Right now I have 31 total eggs in the bator (3 broke during shipping and after candling around day 12, it was clear that 7 were not fertile). So to make a long story short, I have 8 olive eggers...
I have a handsome black JG 6 month cockerel that needs a home... If you pay shipping, you can have him... He is from Maria Hall's stock...
I am trying to re-home this guy for the second time. The previous people that took him got complaints from the neighbors because of the crowing and they...
Anyone want a black roo from Marias Jersey Giants? He is four months old and is crowing up a storm in a neighborhood that doesn't allow roosters. I have to protect my girls... I don't want to lose any of them due to "being found out" about my chicken addiction.
I want to keep him but I can't...
