Oh my…. Sorry, but wow, when you don't want roosters you end up hatching 7/7 boys like my MIL did one year, but when you DO, they're all pullets. Was your rooster with the hens, or rather hens you'd like to hatch eggs from, shortly before he died? If so, and if want to hatch more chicks now...
Fingers, toes and eyes crossed for a successful hatch from those two @CanadianBuckeye ! It's SO frustrating when you invest time and money into getting hatching eggs from good stock and the PO/courier messes them up in transit.
I do know of one person that said recently they were very happy with their cackle hatchery Buckeyes. If you're looking to show or breed, going to a reputable breeder will be your best route though. Hatchery stock of any breed is not well-bred and seldom very good quality, but with that said, for...

I often wish, when I read excerpts of the old publications and research breeds' origins, that we could go back in time and see what the breeds all looked like back then, talk to the breeders and hear how they went about breeding their birds… I'm so glad there are photos around for us to see...
