We have chicks!!! We ended up hatching out 2 Japanese bantams (father is Black tailed white, the hens are grey), we also ended up hatching out 2 silkies... one white, one grey. Very lucky hatch of 100%! I'm happy to say, the JB hens have the wrong color legs, but both chicks got the correct...

I thought I read that generally there is a hatch and fertility problem with japanese bantams and 25% just don't hatch? Is that also true?

Wanted to share a picture of Ginko, he's my BTW roo. I think he looks pretty good, maybe a little too long legged, but he's shorter then my grey hens.

I have a broody silkie, I have put 6 eggs under her.... 4 are from my Japanese Bantams (2 grey hens & a btw roo) and the other 2 are from my silkies. Can't WAIT to see what hatches out. So I may have a few chicks available, since this is just a test run.

Too bad my grey boy died in the last snow we had.... he was gorgeous! My girls' are not the best, their legs are the wrong color but the rest are nice. My white boy is perfect!

ANyone in NC looking to buy a trio of Jap Banties? I have a blacktailed white roo & 2 Grey pullets. All hatched this last spring. The girls are pet quality and the roo is breeder quality (I lost my BTW pullet during that huge 10" snow we got over Christmas )
