I wouldn’t go past 16 weeks if you are going to grill. IMO after 16 wks they are roasters andafter 6 months they are soup.

I just sent 11 to fat camp for 4-6 weeks. Kept on high protein and corn until plump.

6 months old marans cockerels/pullets if growing free ranging for 4 months and penned in small cages for 4 to 8 weeks fed with Wheat and corn as much with milk . are one of top 3 breed in world after la Bresse, la Fleche .
I have tried it many time ,the best chooks to eat . my friend/clients can get enough of them .I just don t have enough to keep every body happy . 2.5 to 3,2 Kg final weight of tender meat ,

I agree with you if you want to open grill them 16 grown if high protein diet .flat open

Violet is free of white. I was planning on moving her tonight into Jasper's pen. I am also moving one of the 2 hens that was in with Jasper back in with him. I believe she is the one that layed the dark round egg name is Storm. That way I can make sure it is her laying that egg. She doesn't appear to have any white that I can see.

agree 100% . hope they turn up like him and that chunky pullet .
your BC flock is reaching the number we want . very good .
things get done better when done slowly and properly .
tuning your flock to get the best result from them .

This is a Blcm pullet from Jasper. She has a little darker chick down but nice and chunky. She will be 1 week tomorrow.
