Granny's gone and done it again

Going to be at least 2 years before Hailey can "replace" Enola and then not the same level of registeration. And I can't afford to buy a replacement cow UNLESS insurance pays for Enola.

On the bright side if you can call it that . I am thinking that Granola will be removed from the sales list and possibly lizzy B as well.

What sucks is I loose the maternal side bloodlines of Enola. Her Sheila and Granny all have the same father/sire. Different mothers

:( Childbirth fever. Yak in this case. I got that. I got sick very quickly . Didnt expel all the afterbirth and a raging infection set it. Would explain the smell if it was worse then death smell.

could be very likely she actually smelled worse then the calf. and was dripping fluids from her rectal/vaginal area looked bloodyish

That's not a pretty site, especially on your nice yaks.
Maggots can hatch out and start feeding in 24 hrs or less.

Possible, but why would Enola die? I'd be really worried about disease. One of the other heifers getting close to calving might have cleaned it off. Doesn't always take a mama to get the sack off, and they aren't really dirty other than that, just wet. (at least with horses)
You didn't have a lightening strike or anything out there, did you?
It's too much coincidence not to be related.

They had hail and a "good storm" Sunday night. But Enola was in a low spot down by a curve in the creek and powerpoles and tree's all with in a hundred feet or so. Didn't see and "burn" marks on her.
