Has anyone ever used rice bran oil or pellets for thier chickens? If so, which did you prefer and do you believe it actually made a difference in your birds? Thanks.

Never heard of using rice bran oil, but I'm new to the whole organic movement. I've heard of people using rice hulls as feed.

When you mention pellets are you talking about rice bran pellets, not regular ole' layer pellets?

No, not regular layer pellets. 'Back in the day' people would feed their show chickens and horses flax seed oil. This made them extra extra shiney and have beautiful feathers/bodies. But nowadays the process in which they expell the oil from the flaxseed actually takes out the essentials needed for making birds or horses shiney and have a good coat, all it does now is add extra weight will no positive effect. So people have turned to rice bran oil for the shiney/good coat. I just recently found a feed store that carries it in pellet form which I would think would be easier to use but was wondering if using the pellets would actually make them eat more than necessary to acquire the results I am looking for. I would be afraid of this making them too fat also but if I used the oil, I could regulate how much they actually get. So, I am just wondering if anyone has ever used either, rice bran oil or flax seed oil/meal and the results that they had.
