Texas

Yep. Bit that still doesn’t make it right. 😅

I haven’t “winterized” the coop yet. It is open air on two sides (one of them is between the coop and the llama stall so it is partially protected from drafts). I need to put up some plastic strip curtains or sheets with a gap for ventilation at the top and an easy way to roll up/tie them out if they way in the warm days. And still need to figure out what I want to do to keep them a water source that doesn’t freeze.
Yep, your in that area of Texas that's similar to the Panhandle, in-that, there's not much to break the North wind, except a 4 strand barbed wire fence and it has 2 strands missing! 🤣

I'll start this one.

I am in San Marcos, between Austin and San Antonio.

FYI
I have been keeping a spread sheet of Texas BYC members for several years. Right now it has 274 members on it. Of course some are no longer members or might have visited only a few times.

Texas, we are strong !

When we bought this property, the fence line on the “front” (north side) had a solid line of old trees. The kind that have basically taken over the fence. But when the county widened and “paved” the road (you can barely call it paving, basically it is a layer of tar with some gravel thrown on top), they tore down the fence and took out all the trees. We didn’t know they were going to take that much. When we started asking when they were going to replace the fence and compensate us for the trees, we found out that the developer who sold these lots had basically sold the county the rights to tear it all down, that the developer was the one who was compensated. And they didn’t disclose that to us when we bought the property. So we threatened the developer that if they didn’t at least replace the fence that all the property owners on that road were going to get an attorney. They finally replaced the barbed wire fence. But we lost that beautiful old line of threes, along with the privacy and wind break they provided. 🤬

Our property has a lot of trees and brush, so it isn’t as bad as some areas. Across the street is a small cattle ranch so that is almost all pasture.

That is no joke!
Temps in the 30's.... in October? Wth?

It just doesn’t seem right to have a 100F and 35F within a few weeks of each other. 😱🤯🤬

Well folks almost reached
The point of frost this morning;
Far enough for now

Welcome to Texas y'all!

Got some welcome rain yesterday, about 0.64". We'll take anything we can. Puts our total for the year so far at +/- 13.00". I believe some parts of AZ have had more rain than we have....
We got just shy of 1/2” the other day too.
