I put in 12 eggs in the bator Friday. I have never hatched peas before and wanted to see what kind of hatches you guys get. These eggs were 3 days old for the oldest egg. Never shipped by the usps, I picked them up from a breeder that I know. All of her pens have 1-2 hens per cock. I put them in my Dickey's that I think could hatch a rock! Let me know what % y'all get from your own eggs.

Thanks

Is this a big peafowl breeder secret? Just kidding! Can anybody tell me their fertillity and hatch rates?

Did u let them sit under a hen for a week..

That what I read..lol

Got and broodees

I haven't a clue? Wish I did so I could help advise u

Did u candle them yet?

They need to be on their sides and hand turned at least 5x per day. That's all I know.
I plan on letting my peahen sit on them.

It's crazy, I have like 100 hens between chickens, guineas and turkeys and not 1 broody!!! I do pick up eggs a couple times a day. They have only been in the bator for 4 days so far, so candeling wouldn't do any good yet. I have my 2 cabinenet bators and hatcher full from March to August but never tried Pea's before and am really impatient with them because I am excited!

You dont need a broody, some find that helps. But it is not necessary. My hatch rates are low because only one male was really fertile last year.

Thanks, Steve! Yes, the bators are full for sure! I was looking at my 2 cabinets and thinking, where the heck am I gonna fit these 12 pea eggs! I had to shuffle some 1st year smaller turkey eggs into a chicken tray to make room and take a few to the hatcher a couple days early to fit!
