Soooo... I have these four super crafty Easter Egger hens that feel it is there duty to play hide and seek with their eggs. Everyday they fly out of their spacious yards to explore our property and find a new fun places to lay there eggs.
Well, just recently our Golden Retriever started collecting these eggs. She surprised me one afternoon about a week ago by showing me where the nest was hidden in the bushes. But then she did something that really amazed me... she picked the egg up in her mouth, walked it over to me and placed it gently by my feet. I rewarded her with praise (and a treat). Now she is bringing the eggs up onto the porch for us (more praise and treats). I am soooo jazzed that she is doing this. She's always been a pretty great dog... loves the chickens and protects them... but gathering eggs... that was unexpected!
Has anyone else ever had a dog do this?
