Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

I hope it will help. If not, it's still really interesting and can produce some pretty birds! What I thought was interesting with this cross -- CL roo x buff-laced Polish hen (which I wrote about on another CL thread awhile back) is that the offspring were so consistent. Three males who were pretty much identical, and three females also identical. It was interesting to see how much chestnut/autosomal red/ginger/whatever that brown is called came through on the males. Pullet -- who lays a very pale blue egg, gorgeous: Roo, who inherited the crazy personality of his mother, which may or may not be relevant.
Very pretty :)

the color always comes in way late on these crosses. My riw x is just now starting to get color. The golden sexlinks get really nice red shoulders but it doesnt come till around 4 months. If you think about it same voez for the pure ccl roos

It really did! They were pure white for the longest time, then just bits of brown, then the big brown wing patch and chestnut-barred crest.

I thought mine was going to be pure white also. but right around the same time his hackles and adult male tail started growing the bits of red are coming in. He has one colored feather in his crest right now.

Thank you for that description and picture that helps a lot. Would it be wrong per the standard to exclude females that had a little light head spot like mine from breeding?

sorry I guess this is off topic for this discussion ill see if I can find another place to ask.

You are welcome to continue asking all your questions here, sometimes it takes awhile for people to pop on and respond. You can also join some of the other Cream Legbar discussion threads and ask questions their too and post pics and learn tons about the breed.

Thanks! Sometimes the threads get so long I'm afraid my question might even be answered in there somewhere but it'll take reading until next month to find it! Which ill do! It'll just take longer :)

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone. This thread has really taken off! The information exchange on our projects and input that has been offered has really been helpful. The pictures are worth their weight in gold in enhancing understanding and gaining some insights for further breeding direction.

It's so sweet of you to thank everyone when it is us that should be thanking you for starting it!

You can learn so much about genetics in general and the genetics of your stock by looking at the results of crosses and seeing what other folks are up to is really fun and educational.
