These are my 11day olds....CCL over GLW and BO....the one chick has already develped tail feathers(the other two haven't)....I take it that he's a he....your thoughts?

I think they are a cute little trio. What a nice little chick paradise you have for them!

After raising a number of mixed breed chicks of various parentage, I have come to the conclusion that once you jumble up the genes then you really can't rely on feather sexing/feather growth rates or down colors. In general, boys will feather in slower than the girls on wing bows and tails but it is not reliable in mixes. The comb seems to me to be the best indicator or gender (early growth/pink=boy). That's the only reliable indicator I have found. So in your case I think it is too early to tell!

Pic heavy update!

I lost one CCL x GLW because of apparent neurological issues - I believe she was chick #3. Here are the other 6 plus one little yellow WL mix and 3 Marans mixes that were hatched in the same batch. Group shots followed by individual chick pics.

Here is the first chick that hatched #1 seems to be developing a straight comb. I get a roo feeling from it but it could just be the difference between seeing a straight comb versus rose comb.

And the final #7 - the one with light brown headspot that may or may not be a boy, LOL!

I can also see some Male looking combs there too, their headspot is very faint, and its weird to discover that your Rosecomb Wyandotte are only homozygous for it... its also weird to see that these pseudo males(large combs) have a feint headspot, would be interesting what could be restricting the expression of Sex linked Barring on their chick down..

Chick one is the most likely Male out of the Bunch, he has a very faint almost none existent headspot... dont now the genetics behind that

Barring is one of those genes that if you have it you will see it on the chick 's down(except on wheaten, or dominant white extended blacks) , why is is Faint on this chick is beyond me.

I also agree chick #1 looks male.

Can this cross still be considered sexlink or auto sexing if the thought female turns out to be a rooster?

All of those chicks seem to have the same faint head spot.

I would like to see more chicks of this cross familypendragon . Id love to know what results the next hatch has in store for you.
