Free Buff Orpington rooster in need of re-homing in Olympia, Washington. We do not have enough hens to share with this fellow. Friendly and handsome guy.
Hi, I’m pretty new to backyard chicken. Got 3 baby chicks that are close to 5 weeks old. (Rhode Island Red, Silver laced Wyandotte and Buff Orpington). I took them outside to play in the yard and the Rhode Island Red and Silver Wyandotte stated to take their dust bath for like 15-20 minutes...
I bought a BO rooster a couple months ago. He just turned one and he is very aggressive. I can’t go anywhere near the coop or run without being attacked multiple times. He just won’t give up no matter what. Any suggestions on what I can do or should I just get rid of him?
I attached a picture...
I Do Not Want To Do This...
but it cannot be helped. I need to give away my four 8-month old Buff Orpingtons. They are VERY friendly, will sit in your lap for as long as you want to pet them, come running when they see you, lay one egg every day, PERFECT pets for children to learn about...
I got my buffs 9 weeks ago, so they’re between 9 and 10 weeks. Some days I’m convinced I have all pullets, other days I’m convinced I have a bunch of cockerels. The two smallest and most pullet-like ones love to puff up their feathers and chest bump each other. Three of them are larger and have...
So my babies are getting big...I think almost 4 weeks sometime next week. Was told they're most likely EEs. Also have 2 BOs. One seems 3 of the EEs has yellow legs, one has a green-ish tinted to them. My understanding is there isn't really a "standard" for EEs in regards to colors, combs, face...

It's just about 6:30am, so getting lighter outside.
I went out a half hour ago to feed our loud birds to shut them up.
As I was walking around the yard, I found a fart egg.
We have 3 young pullets around the age of 6-7 months old but I know that our OE didn't lay it because it's not Olive green...
So we're brand new to the chicken world. My husband and I have 2 outgoing Saphire Gems, 1 Americana that has quite the personality, and a very shy, timid Buff Orpington. All are 7-8 weeks old. Sugar, our Buff, gets pushed around by the other girls. She spends all her time trying to get away from...
My sweet Sapphire Gem, Vivien She’s working her way into the position of my “heart chicken”! She’d rather be a human than a chick!
Our NOISY Buff girl, Sugar (Named by our 6 year old niece haha) I cant decide if her “voice” is just extra squeaky and loud or if she needs something more...
Today I cracked open an egg for my dog, and it had a slightly incubated chick inside. This made me freak out, not only because it looked awful, but because I didn't know I had fertile eggs and because I didn't know I put them in an egg carton (not refrigerated). Most of the blue eggs in there...
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows if there is preference with breeding orpingtons and rhode island reds. We have a rhode island red and buff orpington rooster and both breeds of hens. We could do both possibilities. Which do you think is best? Will there actually be a different...
Hello Community,
My wife and I will be getting 6 chicks soon and are in the process of building a chicken tractor for pasture-raising the chickens in our backyard. We are hoping to get quiet, friendly and easy-to-manage birds.
We are probably going to get 2 Buff Orpingtons and 2 Speckled...
So I have this hen, shes a 4 year old buff orpington, that has been almost bald of feathers for more than a year. Two years ago I had a couple of aggressive roosters, and only 7 hens, which is when the feather loss started. I bought the girls "jackets", to protect from the roosters, but most of...
My babies are 5 weeks old and appear fully feathered. It's warm ish here in Tennessee and they are fighting coming in the house by avoiding me and my daughter when we go for them. They are huddling from time to time but aren't looking cold per say. Again if we attempt to grab em they run. Mind...
We have had a small flock of heavy-breed backyard hens for about five years. On October 11th, we lost our young Barred Rock, Millie, due to what appeared to be (after my amateur autopsy) internal laying. Since two weeks after her death, we have not gotten eggs from any of the remaining three...
