    Is it possible??

is it possible for a rooster and hen to mate after a few hours of being introduced?? I borrowed a rooster for half a day to see if he would mate. That was 2 days ago. My chickens never sit on their eggs but today one was sitting on 6 of them! Do you think they could be fertile??

Hen on eggs roughly 32 days

Hello there, I have a guinea hen who has been sitting on her eggs for roughly 32 days. I candled them in the beginning to see if they were fertile and I don't think so but I think she knows they are. She has gone broody in the past but only sat on her eggs for three nights maximum. Since she's...

broody hen is not actually sitting on her eggs

I have a broody silkie hen that raised babies back in February. She had been broody for about 5 days when I gave her some baby chicks, who she cared for wonderfully. Now shes at it again but I don't have any baby chicks on hand to give her, so I gave her fertile eggs. But every time I check on...

Safe to use fertile eggs to incubate after Permethin?

I just dusted my coop and some of my girls since they have some lice. I was already collecting eggs prior for incubation and just realized that I have no idea if the eggs tomorrow will now be ideal after this treatment for incubating? Thoughts? I used Gardstar poultry dust. I'm hoping I can...

I finally have room to get myself the Sebastopols I have been wanting for years! :celebrate Unfortunately it seems there are quite the waiting lists from most hatcheries, and the quality standard isn't the same as what is found from most breeders, so I'm on the hunt. I'm either looking for 3-5...

What is this thing in the egg?

hello! Certainly I assumed our eggs couldn’t be fertile as we culled our only rooster maybe 8 weeks ago, however this egg looks like the target I was told fertile eggs would have and we had what I swear looks like a tiny chicken fetus in one of them. Pictures attached below. Can anyone with...

    Im so nervous!

Day 7 into incubating Silkie eggs. Candled today and 2 out of 12 had blood rings so I removed. Eggs were...

    Moving broody hen?

I have a Welsummer hen laying on eggs that are supposed to hatch in a week or less. I live in Michigan and it’s currently VERY cold and snowy, I’m scared that if the chicks hatch while I’m away they might fall out of the nesting box and just freeze. I have a little tent set up with food, water...
