Hey guys, first day as a real member of the BYC community, been a lurker for years. Joined literally just to ask this question. lol. Attaching pics of the rooster and hens. The only Lavender hen isn't laying quite yet, so all the babies will be a crossbreed. Has anyone done this particular cross...
Hello all!
I decided to join the forum because so many times over the last few months when I google topics regarding chickens, something on this forum pops up. So I figured why not go right to the source.
Last November, we purchased our homestead located on 13 acres and one of our first...

Yes, I'm new to chickens! My husband and I adopted/rescued four retired isa brown chickens in May 2020. My husband has had previous experience raising...
Hi guys. My ISA Brown hen Amy has suddenly become very sick-looking. She’s ~2 1/2 and has always been a very energetic and happy chook, but now she’s acting really sad, lethargic and sick. Her comb has flopped over, her tail is tucked down and she tends to just stand or sit in a corner of the...

Exactly as the title says, one of my hens just laid an egg in front of me after squawking for a few minutes. Has anyone else had something like this happen? It was funny!
Could anyone tell me why my hen Bertha is pacing and squawking loudly? And why she hasn't laid an egg yet (she usually lays much earlier)? Thanks in advance.
I have 4 ISA Brown chickens who are almost 17 weeks old. One of them started laying eggs a while back, but none of the others have started yet. I am feeding them adult food from Purina. Why haven't they started laying yet? Are they too young or am I doing something wrong?
I decided to drain my first egg from my current flock, spray a clear coat of spray-paint on it, and keep it. Has anyone else done anything like this? (Also I'm attaching a pic of said egg.)
My small flock of 4 ISA Brown pullets just turned 16 weeks old today! Does anyone know when I can expect them to start laying eggs? One of them squats when I pick her up, if that means anything.
Thanks for any help!
