I am in search of day-old or very young lavender orpington chicks. I'm located in north east Massachusetts but willing to travel within an hour or so and to New Hampshire/Maine. Please let me know if you have any or if you know where I could get some. Thanks
This is my first time hatching Lavender Araucana. They are bred from UK standard show stock so they are totally different from US standards but hopefully someone will be familiar with this breed.
I read on another thread that Araucana chicks born with a prominent lump on their head are likely...
I have a pure lavender ameraucana rooster, and a barnevelder hen I'm thinking about breeding this year. Has anybody crossed this pair and gotten nice olive eggs? Or are they likely to come out more like an EE egg? I know most people use marans for the dark brown eggs but I don't have any of...
I posted recently regarding my hen moulting three times in about 3-4 months she is now sounding a little hoarse then her normal brpp brpp sound. Is there anything else I should look out for as know they can hide illness. She's eating and drinking as normal and is showing normal behaviour. She...
Hi,
I was needing helping telling the breed of my chicks. I am supposed to have two lavender Araucana chicks but their was a chance that one was a Orpington. The chicks are all between 2-3 weeks old. Though the chick in the first photo will be about a week older than the chick in the second photo.
This is Rickey he is a Blue Black Splash Breda rooster
he was hatched 6/5
I got him 12/30/17
the reason he was being sold is because the gold leakage on his wings and back (I think it looks better that way though cause it looks like gold dust was sprinkled on his back when he's in the sun)...
we just found out that our beautiful, sweet, Lavender Orpington hen is really a rooster and our neighborhood doesn’t allow for roosters. Looking to re-home as a pet or show bird.
Lavender split to Black Copper is also acceptable.
I will not be looking to buy them until March of 2018, but I am interested in getting on a waiting list or researching anyone who is breeding them. Must come from an NPIP farm. Prefer Merrick's vaccinated but not necessary. Eggs MUST be a 4 or...
I acquired a Lavender Belgian D'Anver Rooster by chance and he only sees my Serama hens through the wires that separate them. I don't want my Serama girls to get too attached because I have a Serama Rooster who I am waiting to introduce them to when they are older. He is currently entertaining...
I wanted to create this post because i can not find much information on breeding sussex chickens. So if I breed a lavender sussex rooster to a coronation sussex hen. What percent of each colour would I get. Would I get good colour chicks. I also have a silver sussex rooster who was the offspring...
Help! My chicken, Lavender, is struggling after her "mother" and "best-friend" died.
Lavender is a silkie hen, about 1 to 1 1/2 years old, laying frequently (every day).
We had an ill Rhode Island Red hen that was her "carer" in a way - they were always together. She got an impacted crop and...
I had a small breeding flock of lavender brahmas that I obtained from Carolina Rare Chicks. Unfortunately, a fox just took out my one and only Lavender Roo! I'm absolutely devastated. It doesn't look like any more are currently available. Does anyone know of any other breeders? Thanks!!
Just got this smooth girl yesterday, and was told by the breeder she'll turn lavender. She's 9-10 weeks old. Mom is a lavender dad a silver. What do you think? Could she actually turn light lavender like her mother?
And what is "sideboard" or "sidewalk" coloring the breeder used such terms to...
Hi everyone,
Although we talked about getting chickens for years we got our first 2 Buff Orpingtons in March; we are hooked. Went back 2 weeks later and picked up 2 Black Austrolops; our first four chicks turned 4 months yesterday. They are doing really well!
On June 8th I picked up 6...
Interested in knowing what sex you think my 6 Lavender Orpingtons are; I determined pretty early that number 1 is a roo. His wings, tail and stance are very different then the other 5 which I am hoping are pullets. Number one has just a tiny round fluff tail while the other 5 have very...
I have a few 7 week old easter Eggers and lav orps that I need help sexing! Here are pictures.
This is Florence the lav orp. I'm pretty sure she's a pullet.
Lady Bird. I suspect Lady Bird may be a roo...
Helen the Easter Egger. This photo is from two weeks ago. Helen's coloring and...
I have one last batch of Lavender AM chicks and a few left over from some older hatches. I am NPIP Certified in GA and do ship for a flat rate of $55 plus $12 for the box. The 1 week old are $12 each and the 2 week old are $15 each and the 3-4 week old are $20 each. Even have one that is 6 1/2...
Is it possible to tell just by their combs at 10 weeks old. Some are a tad older, but all are by now so I'll just call them 10 weeks. I have 11 that I'm trying to figure out. From looking at pics online of others of the same age, I keep thinking all of ours look like roos based on their...
