Hi all!
We hatched out babies for the first time on the farm. The eggs came from a friend's farm who has a large mixed flock, so they are backyard chicks. One of the hebs is way smaller (50% at this point) than the others and has black skin and black legs. I thought silkie but she obviously...
Back again to add another little update to this young girl!
The same information as provided on the post about her a bit ago-
She was bought from TSC
She was from a mixed bin with wyandottes
There were bantams and other breeds available that day
I'm pretty sure my TSC supplies from either...
I got these chicks at a poultry show raffle there about 3-4 weeks old
I was told one is an olive egger, one is a black copper marans, and one is an unknown breed
all of them are unsexed
Chick 1.
Non single comb, 4 toes, slightly feathered feet
Chick 2.
Single comb, 4 toes, slightly...
Update: SHE IS AN OLIVE EGGER LOL. Thank you for your help guys :)
Hello!!! I have a little gal and I have NO idea what she is supposed to be. I was told one thing and she seems to be another. She has a funny little hairdo and quite the personality.
I’m new to chickens and can’t figure out what breed(s) of chickens these two blondes are. Can anyone give me an idea? They’re both about 6 weeks with chipmunk cheeks (muffs?) and heavily feathered feet. Initially, they were all the same size, but now the two yellow ones are a bit smaller than...
Hello! I am helping a friend figure out what breeds these 2 chickens are. The first chicken in the photos looks to maybe be a brown leghorn?? She didn’t buy one though. The gray chicken, no idea. Here is a list of chick breeds she bought - moss eggers, olive eggers, & prairie bluebells. Thanks!! 🙃
(Egg photo includes example of my darkest egg color, one of my Orpingon’s pink egg collection, and a final silkie egg.)
So all my girls have started laying and I have a bit of a mystery on my hands. I have a silkie (small creamy white egg), a Houdan (large stark white egg), an Americana (pale...
These 2 are my original chickens. They were a gift from a local woman. (Whom i have no way to contact.) There is a possibility they are mixed breeds. They are both hens and 1.5 years old. The black one (Cowboy) does resemble a Mystic Onyx, that's the closest I could find.
The white one...
She was sold as a "Tried and True Bantam" at the farm store. We thought maybe a Welsummer bantam or some kind of Old English game? Not sure though. If anyone has any ideas they would be much appreciated! Thanks!
Hello! I have 11 bym mix chicks between 5-6 weeks old. These chicks I'm curious on, can't quite figure out gender yet (I know it might be too early to get a conclusive answer, but I'm curious!). Parents are from a breeder and a a possible mix of french marans (black, blue, lavender, and...
Hi! We picked up these little cuties on April 1, and we were told they were EEs, Cuckoo Maran, and a Barnyard Mix (black chicken with Mohawk). The seller said they were 3-4 days old, which they are all vastly different sizes now - which made me think we have some different breeds?
1 -...
So!! I just rescued two golden sebrights, a hen and a rooster. The hen for sure looks like a seabright. But when I was doing research it says that the roosters will have hen-like feathers, meaning he won’t have pointed hackle or pointed saddle feathers. This boy does, he also has a dark chest...
She is a bantam. Dark grey non feathered legs. Lays green eggs. I’m thinking she’s just a random jungle or English fowl mix. But if anyone recognizes her as a breed please let me know.
I got chicks back in September from Ace and was supposed to have gotten two cream legbars. They looked identical as chicks, so much so that I couldn’t tell them apart, but as the two pullets grew they started to look significantly different. They’re about 6 months now and neither have laid their...
I acquired this pretty girl a few months ago and I completely forgot what breed she is. She just started laying white eggs. & Funny story.. she accidentally found her way into the house when I first got her. 😂😂
Picked up what I thought was a buff Orpington rooster but he went from looking like a young buff to suddenly this massive lanky ginger. I still think it’s half buff based on a few things but what could he be crossed with?
Also if my hens are full and he’s half will they have 3/4 buff chickens?
And also can anyone tell me what breed hopefully-she is? (Photo of big dark chicken and photo of feet from the back)
I’m also wondering about the breed of this bantam is…formerly Eudine, now certainly Eustace. (Photo of obvious orange and tan rooster)
They were purchased as chicks on May 8th...
