I am very surprised I can't find white Chanteclers anywhere for that reason. Since they're the original color and common in Canada. I wanted to concentrate on the two recognized colors. Buff is a reletively recent color, and isn't recognized in the Standard of Perfection. I got my Buffs from Ideal, and they don't seem as hardy as my Partridges from Ideal (who are a little on the small side tho). The Buffs are very pretty and look like Buff Orpingtons... I sometimes have to look closely to tell them apart from my Buff Orpington hen. I wouldn't be surprised if the Buffs were developed by crossing out to Buff Orpingtons. Ideal just started offering Red Chanteclers this year too, but no White Chanteclers.
Love your page, Lily! I've always liked barred birds. I have one EE roo that's barred that I just can't seem to part with, even though I really have no use for him.
I saw your website a few years back where you were raising Blue Jerseys, and was really wanting to get some from either you or Maria. I have no idea where the breeder I got my eggs from got his stock, but I wasn't too happy with the chicks that hatched. At least I got the two roos and a hen out of it that I decided to keep, since they have yellow feet. I got my wires crossed early on and culled all my hens from the first hatch that had them, leaving myself with pink footed hens.
I have since learned the error of my ways and am hoping to fix that problem this spring. Bishop may turn out to be who I use, but I'm still not sure yet. I may give Duke a turn at the pen this spring. He's throwing black chicks, which I need. My black roo got eaten.
I'm so glad other people like Chanteclers too! I just found a source to get some more partridge chicks in the spring. I thought I saw someplace that had white--NOW I'll have to go & look!

Buff, thanks SO much for putting that list together. That's a huge time saver for me!
One request if I may: Could you keep this list in excel and add a link to the pages? As we get closer to the end of the contest I could really use this list to:
1) Add the pages to the site
2) Make it easier to know who submitted what, with a quick link to the appropriate page.

Surely Sandhill (www.sandhillpreservation.com) has white Chanteclers? They don't seem to have a catalog up on their website at present, presumably b/c it is the off season, but I am just *sure* they have whites...?
Nifty, I made the Excel spreadsheet. Let me know whenever you want it sent to you. So far we have 21 entries (one pending).
Thanks for the opportunity to not die of boredom at my office jobs!
