«We Could Be Legends»

"Strange." Wolfram murmured. "Crystals, I mean. Sage used to talk about them a lot. She always said they had healing abilities, and that some brought people back from the dead. Not that I believed her. She talked about a lot of things like that. But now two people have been healed by them...I wonder if what Sage said was true..." I wish I could speak to her again....
"I've never seen them heal the dead, but it could be possible, that is, if they hadn't been dead too long and their brain and heart weren't too damaged." River murmured, staring down into the stunning cave. "Sage is...?" She stopped, shaking away the forming question. "Let's go, Wolfram." She glanced at him, giving a reassuring nod.
She started down the path, her feet skidding slightly as she walked down, eyes flashing from place to place. Last time she had been here, people had died. And she had found Thomas, but that wouldn't be happening again.
Her eyes landed on a smaller building far below, and she motioned to it. "That's one of the many training areas. I trained there with a man named Vance, along with Rex, Zen, and Tayn after we arrived and before the battle." She said quietly, simply to cure herself of the throbbing thoughts in her head.

Wolfram followed, though even less-sure footed then her. His foot slipped, earning a loud gasp. Regaining his balance, he glanced at the building, taking in the surroundings. He nodded slightly at her words, but stayed silent for many moments, just following her. "It's to bad it's so....." He paused, trying to grasp the right words. "Broken. I would have loved to seen it before Firestein blew it up...Sage would have to..." He drew off with a sigh, balance unsteady.

Toby was wandering around, looking at things, when he noticed River and Wolfram walking down. He looked at River with curiousity when she mentioned Rex. He shook his head and looked around. "Where are the crystals?" Toby asked her.

"It was... Beautiful. That's all that I can call it. There was waterfalls and flowers, the buildings were huge, skyscrapers underground that were made of stone, built by dwarves hundreds and hundreds of years ago." River murmured, her voice wispy with awe as she recalled the impressive city of stone and clay.
She pointed, motioning to some stairs that were crumbled and destroyed-- Hardly stairs now. "That's where the original entrance comes down."

River glanced down at him as she neared the bottom, finally clearing to the floor, recoiling slightly as her feet hit the dusty stone. "In the tunnels. Come on,-" She began walking down a road, her shoes clicking on the broken ground. "-Follow me."

Toby followed River down the road, looking around at everything. From how it looked now, and how River described it, it would've been beautiful. He wished he could've seen it, but that would've been impossible. "How big are the crystals? How many do you think we will need? Should we take a few extras for if someone got hurt?" He asked, and then fell silent, realizing how his questions were probably very annoying.

River nodded. "One step ahead of you, Toby. They're about three inches, and depending on the size of the key, probably five through eight. And yes, I was planning on doing that. I'm taking as many as I can get."

"Oh, so there's not a 'take only what you need' rule? That's good." Toby said.

"Sounds like....like paradise." He murmured wistfully, imagining the scence in his head. He stumbled as he reached the bottom, wincing. "C-coming." He mumbled, one hand grasping the lanyard of keys around his neck nervously.

Quiet footsteps tapped across the cool stone, nearly inaudible. The tortoiseshell cat walked to the edge of a boulder beneath the waterfall.
Memories flooded her head, of her life before the destruction of the cavern. The cat slowly transformed into an aging woman, weeping at all she had lost to the Pure. And of what else would be lost again to them.
She had left to escape the memories, but opportunity, and history, repeats itself.
Emily.

River smirked, eyes flinging from one place to another. "No, there isn't. And I'm pretty sure this counts as a 'we need' moment. Besides, life doesn't work like that." She mumbled, glancing at Wolfram. "When we find the crystals, we can probably fix you up." She uttered coolly.
