«We Could Be Legends»

The man gritted his teeth behind the cowl, causing his temples to jump. These kids were young and dumb, but full of piss. They had them surrounded and out gunned, but they still didn't know when to give up. He looked around, suddenly realizing how loud these dolts were getting. "Change of plans." He said to his squad, disgusting his voice with a low growl. He took a fistful of Wolfram's jacket and lifted him to his feet, one arm around his neck. In the other hand, sparks leapt and crackled from his tazer, dialing it up with a high-pitched squeal. "We'll take them with us."

Jessi growled and launched at the men holding Wolfram. She bit the arm he was using to hold the taser & was using her wings to pound into his back. Toby continued to stab the people who were previously holding Jessi.

By the time I got to the library I was so wet I started to wonder if they would even let me in.

Guarding the steps, two lions snarled at the passersby, a front paw on stone orbs. On nice days, people could sit under them and read, sheltered from wind or sun, but still enjoy the fresh air. Today was not one of those days. Instead, the lions sheltered only a few stray leaves and an empty bag of Cheetos.

I entered quietly shedding my dripping houserobe at the automatic doors and dropping it on a bench. Immediately I am welcomed with warmth, quiet, and the smell of decaying paper. The place was nearly empty, as usual, so I had no trouble weaving through the isles to the vacant computer desk, save for one old man, who I quickly evaded.

Confused at the sudden turn of events, Brisa landed and began firing rocks toward all the masked people. This isn't working! She thought desperately. Seeing Wolfram's dire situation, she jumped back on her hoverboard and rode quickly towards the guy holding him, smashing into the man's head at full speed and unseating herself in the process.

Wolfram screeched, snarling at him."Let me go, you-"He swore horrid names at the male, snarling."Fine."He hissed Finnally."Take me, but lay a hand on the girl...."His eyes flashed threateningly. But deep inside, he was terrified. And he knew he couldn't do anything.

Never! Lachlan jumped at a man, then turned and darted away. He repeated this before landing a bite on the man's leg, tearing flesh and cloth, and wincing at the taste of blood. Okay, that's disgusting. He scrambled away, avoiding his kicks.

Beneath the dogpile, somehow he managed to keep ahold of the boy, but his tazer flew from his hand. Two men grabbed onto Jessi's wings, only to be tossed into the graffitied wall of Maryella's Oddities with one flap. He didn't even see the fangs that sank into his left leg, which might just have been what added the blood-curdle to his scream.

That was it. They needed a different tactic. They wouldn't be able to peel one away from the others, and they couldn't drag them all away.

Fist still embedded in the boy's clothes, he slammed Wolfram into the concrete. A cold sweat broke out through his whole body. "They can't protect you forever," he said, the smell of brimstone whispering from his lips.

He pulled a handful green orbs from his pocket, and smashed them on the ground. Hazel smoke erupted from it, clothing everything within a hundred feet in its being.

Then as fast as they had come, the Pure vanished.

Then from Maryella's Oddities, a two-story shop which promised 'merchantile from this world and that' produced an oddity of its own. A mermaid wheeled out in a chair, dripping wet, pale, and weilding a metal baseball bat. "What's going on?" she said, attempting bravery even ehen her voice quaivered the slightest bit

The sudden disappearance made Toby stumble forward and fall down. He rolled onto his back & groaned. He had taken quit a few hits from them, but he caused more damage to them than they did to him. He coughed at the smoke & looked over at Jessi, who was standing there in shock. She looked around for any sign of Wolfram, but couldn't find him. Darn it she thought. She looked at Alpha who was now happily sitting on Toby's chest, licking his face. Jessi looked around at everyone else to see if they were hurt. She found her backpack a few yards away & grabbed it in her teeth.

Lachlan snarled, then calmed and turned to Wolfram, checking him over cautiously. Satisfied that he wasn't too hurt, he turned to Bleddyn. He shifted back to a human. "Bleddyn?" He shook her, kneeling at her side. She's out cold.
