«We Could Be Legends»

"You sound like this is a proud accomplishment," Indigo drawled. "Hey, is the traffic clearing ahead?"

Toby sighed in relief. "Yes, finally." He said, speeding up more. "It looks like one of those car-bridge-things fell on the road. I'm glad they got it cleared."

Car-bridge-things? "Yeah, it caused a lot of headache. Hm. Do you think more will fall? If they have iron? Driving in an unstable, iron-filled city might not have been the greatest idea. I hope they're getting out ok." She winced as a futuristic looking skyscraper crumbled in the distance. "It's not just going to kill inhumans you know. Even more people could die now."

Seeing the confused look on her face, Toby tried to explain. "You know, those bridge things above freeways that cars go on?" "He means an overpass." Jessi interrupted. "Yes, exactly! An overpass." He nodded slowly as she spoke. "I wonder if it's got to any other cities yet." He said quietly.

Leona shot Toby a grateful smile. "Thanks. Plenty of people, me and the others who aren't hurt have been trying to round everyone up in here to get the checked out, but we haven't hardly found anyone yet, the Pure literally just left so we haven't been able to search everywhere." She looked to Frosty. "Incomplete count as of the moment, but twelve have been confirmed dead."
"Twelve?" Frosty asked in disbelief. "Have you looked around you? There's bodies everywhere!" His voice cracked at 'bodies'. He started pacing back and forth among the rubbish. "You're right," he said to Toby, "we need to get all the injured in one place. I'll go and try to gather everyone up." He turned to Leona. "Coming?"

"Yeah, I figured," Indigo said. "If it's going to get to other cities. Do you really think it will destroy the world?" (Oh boy, the next rp could be post apocalyptic where all of the iron has disappeared completely. And people have to survive in a broken world.)

Toby was quiet for a few minutes, pondering the question. "I mean... if it was going to kill all the inhumans in the world, that would have to be really strong, right? So why would it just affect this city?" He asked. He reached out to pet Alpha when he started bumping his hand with his head.

"The dog's back here," Indigo informed him. Alpha had been in perfect quietude while all the commotion went down. "Soon the cars will be wrecked. Then they won't have a place to go. You know, if they have iron. If not they'll keep driving, I guess." Indigo pursed her lips as an image of all the people, cars collapsing around them, no place to go, no place to run. She glanced out the window. Some people were on electric scooters. "All of them are going, I think. Leaving. But is there an escape?" Another image, people huddled together in the desert, filled her mind, chilling her. Had such a thing happened before?

"Alpha has been here the entire time. You just haven't noticed because he's a good, well trained doggie." Toby ruffled up the fur on Alpha's head, then moved his hand back to the steering wheel, occasionally petting Alpha when he would bump Toby with his nose. "Does this car have iron?" He asked.

"Yeah. I think so," Indigo turned her pale face to the window, staring at the hurried traffic. "Yeah, they're definitely leaving," she added. "Normally there wouldn't be much traffic at this hour."
