«We Could Be Legends»

"Hey," Alice said gently, trying to see his face in the darkness. "I need to look at your arm. Can you sit up?" She asked.

“Hu-what?” Toby said, propping himself up on one arm and looking around. His eyes focused on the girl standing in front of him, and he leaned away from her, his injured arm held against his chest. “W-why?”

Alice stopped her hand that was already reaching for him, realizing he didn't want her to touch him. "Because you're hurt."

Toby watched her hand retreat, and then looked up at her face. “Alice?” He asked, it finally clicking why she sounded so familiar. He relaxed, sitting up all the way. “I’m not-“ Toby wanted to say he wasn’t hurt, but he would obviously be lying. “It’s not... that bad.” He mumbled instead, his foot tapping nervously on the seat.

"That's why I came to you last." She said shrugging and giving him a small smile. She thought for a second trying to figure out how to convince him to accept her help, her eyes falling on Alpha. "Is he ok? I could heal him if he's hurt."

River, due to an absence in fighting, had leaned up against the van, her hand gripping her pistol with white knuckles as she fell into her thoughts. Lachlan, Finlay, Camilla, Ash, Wolfram, Toby, Brisa, Jessi, Taylor, Indigo, Lily, and Alice are all safe. But now Jenna's dead, Toby and Jessi don't have a mom and Rex doesn't have a wife. He doesn't even know yet, oblivious to the fact that everything's fallen apart. And how am I supposed to tell Emily that her only daughter is dead? Or Gage and Zen that two of their best-friends are gone, that I've dragged their children around a destroyed city for the last four days in order to save them from a psycho killer?
She blinked. Zen. He was coming home. And we weren't there, just... Broken glass and blood. He probably thinks me and they boys are dead. And when we find him, what's he going to think of me now? Back to killing and putting our sons in danger? Letting Sherri, Connor, Jenna, Tayn, and Thomas die? He left the city with all of us fine, but he's coming back to a fragment of what we was. Me, the boys, Camilla, and Alice and a couple of our friends' kids. Great job River, great job.
She shook her head, her mind wandering to her friends. Who's still in the city? Mikki's here, Ash is here, Rex is across country so he's fine, Crow's here, Jenna and Connor are gone, Misty... Was here. Hopefully she's hiding with Del and Zi somewhere, smarter mom than me. Sammy, Gage, and Zen may still in the city though... Who know's if they're alive or not...
Her hand felt empty suddenly, instead of feeling a gun, she felt something else... Dust? Her eyes shot down to her hand and was met with the sight of it covered in a rustic colored soot. Her face morphed into a confused mask, unsure why her pistol rusted so much that it turned to dust, until it dawned on her. It was metal. The poison destroyed metal. She sighed. Probably good it's gone, anyway. Too many bad memories of how I got it, and how I used it. But except now I don't have a weapon... Great.

Lachlan watched his mom's face contort in emotional agony and was beginning to approach her when he saw her gun turn rustic, then slowly crumble away in her clenched fist. He stopped mid-stride, bring up his hand to inspect his knife, the handy down from Myrick, to River, and now him. It's blade seems fine... Wait. It was slowly turning a red-brown, shrinking in size until it finally crumbled away in his hand, leaving simply a bone handle.
He whirled around, taking a good look at all the surrounding guns and knives, watching them all meet the same fate.
"Uh... Guys? We're weaponless."

“Oh, ok,” Toby said. He looked down at Alpha, watching as the dogs ears twitched. “I... I don’t know. I don’t think he is, but-but I can’t tell. There’s too much blood...” he trailed off, running a hand down Alpha’s back to check for injuries.

Indigo had long ago discarded any weapon that she had due to their availability and the fact that she was honestly too lazy to refill it’s bullets.
But she stared at the ground, littered with bodies and guns and the guns shriveled up like her own.
“Isn’t that a good thing? I mean, our abilities against their hands are pretty good odds.”

“Oh, ok,” Toby said. He looked down at Alpha, watching as the dogs ears twitched. “I... I don’t know. I don’t think he is, but-but I can’t tell. There’s too much blood...” he trailed off, running a hand down Alpha’s back to check for injuries.
"Is it ok if I check?" She asked holding a hand up toward Alpha. "I can tell, with out actually seeing."

Lachlan paced forward, suddenly remembering that there was a small boy in the van, and he had no idea where he came from or who he was.
He grabbed the door handle, pulling it open to see a scrawny boy sitting in it and began looking him over, but automatically brought a small onto his face to show the child he meant no harm.
The boy had dark blonde hair, and glittering green eyes that Lachlan recognized... From somewhere. "Hey." He said softly, trying not to seem threatening. "I don't think I've seen you before. I'm Lachlan. Are you hurt?" (@Cluckcluck1215 )

Toby nodded. “That’s cool. Y-yeah, go ahead,” he replied, nudging Alpha closer to her. He doubted Alpha was hurt, but knowing for sure would make him feel better. “And thank you. For checking him. I don’t know if I could live with myself knowing I let him get hurt.” Toby said softly.
