(I'm kicking myself for making Brisa go home so early!)
Brisa couldn't concentrate on her homework, her mind still buzzing over questions about The Pure and her mom's past. She decided to abandon school for the night, figuring that finishing two subjects was enough, and clicked open a new tab. In the search bar she typed out: Inhumans Mikki Tailor and hit SEARCH. Some news stories from about 25 years ago popped up, and she clicked on the top one. The article was titled HEROES OR THREATS? and it was about a group of people whose names she recognized as those of her friends' parents. "What the heck?" She whispered as she scrolled down the page, seeing pictures of a torn up battlefield and blackened police station, and strangest of all, a photo of a place where the city streets had caved in to reveal an underground city. Near the bottom of the article were pictures of people she instantly recognized as highschool versions of her friends' parents. And among them was a photo of her own mother. She looked about sixteen in it, and was smiling at someone right behind the camera, a drooling and happy dog at her feet. "Mom..." She trailed off, feeling sick to her stomach, and dropped her head down into her hands, unable to look at the glowing screen any longer. There were casualties, Mom! People died! Did you kill anyone?
