«We Could Be Legends»

Brisa's phone lit up (I'm assuming Jessi is off the phone with River/Toby?) and she glanced down at it, confusion entering her gaze as she scanned the message. She picked up her phone and answered:
Where r u?
Turning to the others, she asked, bewildered, "Where can we get clothes for Beddyn? I pretty much only have dresses, and she would be... less than thrilled with that."
"Somewhere."
Shivering violently now, it took Bleddyn way too long to realize how inane of a reply that was. A rain droplet rolled off of her head and splattered on her phone screen as she forced her numb fingers to tap out something additional.
"Think a town or two over- kinda recognize stuff.. then again I dont. Not with anybody else."

Toby glanced up at Indigo. "Frowning like that will give you wrinkles." He said simply, looking back at Alpha.
Indigo Alan was not queen at sarcastic retorts. Her frown deepened.
"Erm, okay?" Toby said, taking the phone. "Hello?"
"Toby? What happened? Are you okay?" Jessi asked, turning the phone off speaker and walking into the kitchen.
"Yeah, I'm fine, don't worry." He responded.
"Oh really? That's not what aunt River said. She said you were shot. Is this true?" Toby turned and glared at River, like she had betrayed him. "Yeah-"
"And is it true you won't let anyone heal you?"
"Yeah…"
"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU? DO YOU HAVE A DEATH WISH? DO YOU WANT TO DIE?!" Jessi screamed at him. Toby flinched, pulling the phone away from his ear. "I will be fine. I stitched it up."
"No, you will not be fine! You are going to die. Do you not understand that? And don't you say no one will care if you die, that's not true. Do you know how depressed Alpha would be? Or I would be? Think about Charlie, he already lost his daughter before, he wouldn't want to lose you too. Or, even though you're delusional and refuse to believe this, mom and dad. They love you, and if you care even a little bit about any of us, you will walk over to one of the nurses, and ask if they will heal you. Got it?"
Toby was silent for a few minutes, but finally spoke. "I'm sorry. I'm not going to do that. I can't."
"You can't what? Damage your ego enough to ask for help? Your ego won't be the only thing damaged if you keep up this stupid and childish behavior." Jessi growled.
"No, you don't understand. I just can't. It's nothing about asking for help, I just- ughhh." He couldn't find the words he was looking for, and that was making him really frustrated. He ran a hand through his wet hair, pulling it out of his face, something he normally did when frustrated.
"Fine. I'm sorry, I thought I could have convinced you to go yourself, but I guess I was wrong. Luckily I know someone there with you that can." Jessi said, deathly calm.
"Who?"
"Indigo Alan, the enchantress. I have her number, and I will call her."
"N-no you wouldn't. I don't believe you." He said, nervously glancing at Indigo.
"She gave us a business card with her number on it. Just wait, I'll call her right now."
"Jessi, don't, please, just don't."
"If you don't want me to call her, then go get healed. Now."
Toby sighed, and banged the back of his head into the wall a few times. He was starting to panic, he hated people making him do things. He was thinking of ways he could get out of being healed. He looked around. Maybe if I take Alpha on a walk, take forever, and by the time I get back we have to leave instantly. That could work.
"I'm waiting. Do I need to call ms. Alan, or not?" Jessi asked impatiently.
"Ok, fine, I'll do it, just don't call her, please."
"Good choice. Tell aunt Riv to text me after you've been healed. I'll talk to you later, love you bye."
"Bye." Toby growled, and handed the phone back to River. "I hate you so much right now." He said to her. He sighed, and looked around for a nurse who was not doing anything.

"Why does everyone keep thinking I'm about to die? I am not. Hurt mom? She wouldn't care, she hates me." Toby sighed, and found a nurse. He slowly followed her into the other room. Well, this is it. I'm going to be strapped to the bed until I die of bloodloss, and then they're going to sell my organs.
"Sit down on the table." The nurse said. Toby looked around the room for any kind of restraints. When he didn't find any, he slowly sat on the table. "Any chance you could not actually heal me, just pretend you did?" He asked. The nurse looked at him like he was an idiot, and lifted up his shirt. She removed the bandages, and was just about to start healing him when he squirmed away. "This isn't going to… hurt… is it?" He asked.
"Compared to a hole in your stomach, you won't feel a thing. Now stop moving." After she healed him, he jumped off the table. "Thanks." He muttered, walking out of the room with his arms crossed of his chest.
"See, painless," Indigo hissed. But the lines crossing her face had faded.

Toby glared at her. "I don't care." He grumbled. He was still mad he was threatened by his own sister to be healed.

(Yeah, she is, lemme right something real quick.)
Jessi stomped back in the room looking mad. "Thanks for letting me borrow that." She said, handing Brisa her phone. "Toby is being an idiot, like always." Jessi looked around. "Everything I have is backless, and really short shorts. I can see if mom has something."
"Okay, thanks." Brisa replied.
"Somewhere."

Can you use your location services to find Jessi's house? I'll send address. Jessi's looking for clothes now.
Brisa texted back. She quickly sent the address, still utterly confused.

Indigo walked back outside. "Well, anyways, if you wish to get back home..."

Toby quickly followed her outside. He climbed into the backseat, his face blank except he looked like he was trying really hard to concentrate. The adrenaline rush people were always talking about screwed him up. It had made his powers stronger, and it was getting harder to push them away and block them out.

Once I knew Mom was asleep I slowly shifted away from her belly and fell to the floor. I put my front paws on the couch, inched over to her face and stared at her for a few moments. Silent, cold tears poured out of her closed eyes and she whimpered in her sleep every so often. Did she always sleep like this? Or was it just this one day because she almost lost both me and Zion in a matter of a few hours... No. There's no way that mom could stay strong like this through everything she's gone through without shedding a few tears. Did Dad ever see or notice that Mom has nightmares like this? Does he ever comfort her when she does? Images flashed through my mind as I thought of this, images of Mom and Dad back to back in bed at 2 am and me and Zion fast asleep in our rooms completely oblivious to the fact that Mom can break just like anyone else. Mom cried and whimpered in her sleep as she fought against the nightmares, her whimpering grew louder and louder until Dad finally slowly flipped over on his other side, reached out and held mom gently, comforting her with his lips brushing against the back of her neck until she woke up with a shuddering sigh and nuzzled his arm. Once she relaxed she looked over her shoulder at him and stared into his eyes, he did the same, absolute love flickered between the pair of hearts and they shared that moment for a bit before Dad shifted a little closer to Mom, propped up on his elbow kissed her forehead for a few seconds, then reluctantly let go of her and flipped back on his side, his back against Moms. He pushed his arm under his pillows and shifted them until they were in the right position then fell back to sleep. Mom on the other hand just laid there, her eyes wide open. Terrified to go back to sleep because she knew that she would be dragged under the nightmares and forced to suffer in the dark depths of her own mind.
I shook my head from the images and looked at Mom softly then placed a kiss on her muzzle. I jumped down from the couch and looked at Zion, who I realized was awake like me. We exchanged a glance and I padded away.
(BOUT TIME I GOT TO THIS)

"Yeah, but...nvm, thx." She tapped the address twice and, almost immediately, the animatronic feminine voice of her phone's GPS system began dictating her forward.
Bleddyn heaved a sigh that misted out visibly and began to uproot herself from the branch.
She didn't realize how feckless she'd been with managing her balance during the dismount until she found herself facedown in mud. She exhaled a huge sputtering sigh and in turn inhaled more oozing muck than she did oxygen.

It took her a bit before she'd corraled enough willpower to peel herself up and hurry onward through the hammering rain at the Siri relation's relentless beckoning.

(wait did everyone leave?)

Zion watched his sister pad away, she would probably go outside and see the others. He knew that they were all waiting for River and them so he decided it was time to wake Mom up. Zion gently nudged his Mom awake with his head, she woke up with a start, her fur on end growling at nothing. She looked around and then looked down at Zion, she settled down and immediately jumped off the couch, shifting back into her human form. Wiping her face with her sleeve, she looked back at Zion nervously as he slid off the couch and shifted into his human form as well. He shifted his wings a bit and looked back at his mother. "Mom a few people are waiting outside for us, we need to go with them," he said calmly. His mother nodded and looked around worriedly without a word, "Del's outside with the others already. They're just waiting for us and Aunt River." Misty looked at Zion and stepped up to him, she patted his head, took his hand and led him outside.
As they walked outside Zion didn't know what to think about the fact his mother was crying. He knew when Delilah was staring at Mom in her sleep that she was thinking the same thing. He was glad though that he didn't have to be heartless to be strong. Zion smiled and hugged his mothers arm tightly as she led him outside.
