«We Could Be Legends»

Brisa typed back:
OK, see you soon.
Setting her phone down, she glanced up at the others. "Well, she'll definitely have to do some explaining before we understand how she ended up by herself in a strange part of town." She said.
With shaky legs, Bleddyn labored up the front steps of the elegant house that her automated guide dropped her at. The phone-led trek here hadn't been as nearly as long or complicated as she'd expected- that, or, she'd run much farther unguided that she'd thought.
But she'd be lying to herself if she didn't admit pretty much everything hurt. This much continuous strain on her bad leg had not only done a number on it, but a negative impact on everything else amiss was felt as well.
Yup, I'm a mess. Somehow the thought put a sycophantic grin on her face. And I'm still okay.
Bleddyn raised a bruised fist to rap on the door....then lowered it, reconsidering on account of what her hands had already suffered.
Biting down on her tongue, she briefly weighed her options of arrival announcement out.

Then, she tripped a few steps back for momentum and rammed her whole right side into the door, because that was definitely the best course of action.

"Yeah? Well I don't like or trust anyone!"Wolfram snarled, shoving himself into the corner even harder, gripping his right hand into a fist.

"Because you close yourself off, afraid of being hurt. Doing that will only hurt you more." Toby said, glaring at him.

Jessi jogged downstairs. "What did you do? You could've broken the door! Mom would kill me if she saw that!" Jessi sighed. "Welcome in. Take a shower, before you get yuck everywhere. Here's some clothes, don't ruin them." She said, handing Bleddyn a gray turtleneck sweater and a pair of jeans.

"It will not hurt me more."Wolfram growled."If I befriend no one, then no one will hurt me. If I rely on nothing and no one, I will be safe. I won't ever get hurt again."He raised a hand, and grabbed the door handle, flinging the car door open."I'm done with this."He stepped out of the car, and slammed the door shut, hissing as the cold rain hit his face. He glanced at the car, and then shifted into his cat skin, taking off down the road, ignoring the stabbing pain in his shoulder and head. I have to get away from here!

Toby was about to respond when Wolfram left. Yes it will hurt you. Do you know how I know? I did it, and it almost killed me. I thought I was a burden, and no one wanted me around. My friend had just died in a car accident, and I thought that if I blocked everyone out I would be fine. It may be better for you in the moment, but it's worse for you in the long run. You build up pain from everything, pushing it deep inside you, and build walls, walls so big nobody can get in. Nobody can save you when you need help. You will end up killing yourself, because you are too scared to let anyone in to help you. And then, you transfer all your pain to the people who love you, and the process starts over again.
"Idiot." Toby sighed.

He ducked his head down, tucking it into his chest. Flattening his ears against the pounding rain, he blindly pushed onward, unable to see through the rain. His pelt clung to his body, his paw slamming against the hard tar, throwing up splashes of a water. His heart pounded in his ears, his breathing raspy and gasping. You're nothing! You've come from nothing, and you'll never be anything! You should just die, you coward! Words echoed in his ears, roaring like thunder. A snap of lighting sizzled through the sky, and thunder rolled above, the ground trembling beneath his paws.
Wolfram didn't even realize he had ran off the side of the road until he felt sodden pine needles beneath his paws. To late! Watch- Pain exploded in his head as his skull slammed against something rock solid, and stars danced in his eyes. He dropped limp at the base of a giant white pine, his soaked body laying sprawled out on the pine needles.

Toby quickly followed her outside. He climbed into the backseat, his face blank except he looked like he was trying really hard to concentrate. The adrenaline rush people were always talking about screwed him up. It had made his powers stronger, and it was getting harder to push them away and block them out.

Wolfram slammed his fist against the door again, the door shuddering under his violent touch."You try living my life for a day, you try having my life and my mindset and maybe...maybe you'll understand why I'm like this all the time!"He snarled, waves of shock going up his wounded arm from the force of the punch to the door, causing him to clench his jaw in pain."Try...to feel....like....a outcast...when all you tried to....do was....help...."He gasped softly, his voice strained, as if speaking had taken the energy from him.
"Don't punch my car," Indigo ordered.
"Well guess what? Life sucks. Life is like a smack of suck in your face. I have been through terrible things. But guess what? I have suffered through it, and I'm not complaining. Pull yourself together, and suck it up. Your mom died, you're hurt, I get that. But acting like a child throwing a tantrum is not going to bring her back. Nothing will. All you're doing is making it harder for yourself, and damaging your hand and the car." Toby snarled back at him, his purple eyes full of rage.

"You're right, I don't know what you're going through, just like you don't know what I'm going through, or what Lachlan's going through, or anyone else for that matter. And if you've been through so much bad stuff, get a therapist. I'd be more than happy to recommend a few." He said sarcastically.

"They are different types of therapy, not just spill your guts out. And if you find someone you like and trust you shouldn't be afraid of talking to them." Toby said. Alpha rested his head on Toby's lap, trying to calm him down.

"Leave Toby alone. I'm sure you don't know what he's been through either," Indigo whispered. She wordlessly watched as Wolfram left. Good riddance, that vandal he is...
The engine purred as she started the car. "Mind calling Jessi and asking where she's at? Unless you think you can drive yourself home..."

He couldn't move or speak. He couldn't even see, but he was faintly aware of sounds and movement around him. He could still feel the pounding rain hitting his body. He could hear roaring thunder and the engines of cars starting. Yet his mind was almost blank. He could feel the agonizing pain in his head and shoulder, and the dryness of his throat. His leg twitched, but his leg just wouldn't move. His eyes wouldn't open, and a even greater darkness was calling him. Finally, he just succumbed to the calling dark, falling farther and farther into unconsciousness, hoping he would just die.

"Don't punch my car," Indigo ordered.

Toby stared at Indigo quizzically. She's starting to creep me out. "Um, shouldn't we wait for the others? We forgot them once, we shouldn't forget them again. And if you want me to call Jessi I'm going to need to borrow someone's phone."

"Try not to smudge the screen, cause you know how much I hate dirt," Indigo laughed, handing her phone back. "Yeah we'll wait."

"Now I want to get it dirty, just to bug you." Toby said. He wiped the dirt on his hands off on his pants and grabbed the phone. He dialed in Jessi's number.
"Hello?" She said.
"Hey, where are you?"
"Toby? Didn't I just talk to you?"
"Am I really that annoying? I'm so offended. But seriously, where are you?"
"I'm at moms house."
"Well that's just fantastic." Toby mumbled. "Okay, I think we might be going there. Talk to you later."
"Ok, bye. Oh wait, did you get healed yet?"
Toby sighed. "Yes, I'm fine. Goodbye." He hung up and handed the phone back to Indigo. He said the address. "I can always drive." He offered.
