Alice rinsed the acidic taste from her mouth, and used a wet cloth to wash her face. Her stomach was still hurting, but there wasn't anything left in her stomach to throw up. She glanced up at herself in the mirror, her face was red and splotchy. She sighed and tossed the cloth into a laundry hamper, before heading back out to the main room. Maybe things had settled down a bit.

"Are you sure it's me doing the bumbling, River?" Ash's voice was eerily sweet, almost sickening, in contrast to River's pained monotone. Despite being shorter and weaker and well aware of it, her friend's superiority did absolutely nothing to subdue the riled mother.

The only thing scaring her was the abnormal unease etched across River's face, but Ash made herself evade the dreadful contagion for the moment.

"Because I'm pretty sure I heard you say my daughter was fine, when, in reality, she'd just been abducted and you had no way of even knowing if she was alive."
Her eyes narrowed significantly then and her arms crossed stiffly across her chest.
"I don't know about you, but that seems like a pretty big bumble to me."

(ooooh I'm not ready for this)

A knock came at the door.
River stared into Ash's enraged eyes, her own eyes dull and seemingly staring into space. "I never said Bleddyn was okay, I said 'I don't know where she is' which at the time, was true. I knew she was taken, yes, but where, I only found that out later. I couldn't tell you, you'd insist we wait for you to come, I couldn't wait, or I'm almost positive I would be down a son and you a daughter. You would have simply been in the way. Like you are now. Why couldn't you have stayed home with Bleddyn?" She muttered harshly, but her heart obviously wasn't in it.
As someone's hand rapped against the door, she had to swallow a whimper of distress. She suddenly shot forward, brushing past Ash's shoulder and was standing at the door in mere seconds, her hand hovering over the handle.
I'm so, so sorry, Ash.
She jerked the door open, a look of utter blankness on her face. "Officer?"

"Hi, you we're expecting me, I guess that means you're River? My name is..."
"He's manic and delusional. He's going to get himself killed, and I'm not going to let that happen." Jessi said.

"Freddie....? I mean, I'm Deputy Frederick Chapman we spoke on the phone."

"Freddie....? I mean, I'm Deputy Frederick Chapman we spoke on the phone."
Freddie cleared his throat, searching for the right words to say. Were there even right words for this kind of thing. He wanted to be sure that this was actually River before he said anything though.
River nodded, offering her hand to a hand shake for formal greeting, however she could not pull a smile to go along with it. "Correct, I'm River Katrina Loson."

Jessi watched the police officer enter the house. She saw the weird look he gave them when she mentioned Toby was manic and was going to get himself killed. Oh no. Please don't come over here. Please, please don't come over here and ask about Toby. She thought. She slowly rapped her wings around Toby and pulled him closer towards her.
