Alice stepped into the room, at the same time as River opened the door. Police? Why would the police be at Jessi's house? She noticed Fritz chatting with Toby and Jessi, when had he gotten here? Alice wandered into the kitchen trying to draw as little attention to herself as possible.River stared into Ash's enraged eyes, her own eyes dull and seemingly staring into space. "I never said Bleddyn was okay, I said 'I don't know where she is' which at the time, was true. I knew she was taken, yes, but where, I only found that out later. I couldn't tell you, you'd insist we wait for you to come, I couldn't wait, or I'm almost positive I would be down a son and you a daughter. You would have simply been in the way. Like you are now. Why couldn't you have stayed home with Bleddyn?" She muttered harshly, but her heart obviously wasn't in it.
As someone's hand rapped against the door, she had to swallow a whimper of distress. She suddenly shot forward, brushing past Ash's shoulder and was standing at the door in mere seconds, her hand hovering over the handle.
I'm so, so sorry, Ash.
She jerked the door open, a look of utter blankness on her face. "Officer?"
