«We Could Be Legends»

Bleddyn gave him a long, weighty look before responding.
"It's okay enough that there are more important things I'm focused on than feeling pain," she replied evenly and gave her left thigh a tap for emphasis.
Unfortunately, the inevitable wince came too. But she made sure to quickly replace it with a small, lopsided grin. "I'm just as fine as the next stubborn Pure victim."
Wolfram gave a grunt of disbelief, clearly seeing right through her cover-up smile. "And pigs can fly. I've seen a cover-up smile on myself enough times," he snarled, turning away from her, but instantly regretting how cold he sounded. Why can't I ever do something right for once?
He crossed his arms across his chest, the dull ache deciding to nip repeatedly at his arm when he moved. Sighing, he looked back over at her, giving a half-hearted smile. "Sorry....I didn't....I didn't mean to be so...mean when I said that."

"Dude." Bleddyn stared at him through half-lidded eyes and waved away his unnecessary apology, her own grin persisting. "Stop with the heckin' sorries already. If you haven't noticed, I'm chill with a lot. We all are."

"It's hard to not apologize," Wolfram hesitated for a moment, his smile faltering instantly, as if someone had flipped the switch, "when you've grown up apologizing for everything." He shrugged indifferently. "It's just a habit I've stuck to, I suppose."

"Well, if you're gonna be hanging with us for awhile, then you've got to unlearn that," Bleddyn suggested, giving a flippant flourish with her left hand. "Blame and grudges aren't things we do typically."
By stating that he'd have a need to assimilate, that was subsequently saying...
The future. Our futures. Heck, yeah, we're all gonna make it past this.

"Then I guess I won't fit in, like with everything." Wolfram growled, forcing the van to hold his weight as he stared at the empty roads, hoping Misty and River would get there in a timely manner.
"Beside, I suppose after this whole thing is done, the rest of you won't want anything to do with me, obviously, so you won't have to deal with my apologizes I guess."

"Hey, who says?" Bleddyn was suddenly attentive, her eyebrows knitting close defensively as her chill sitting posture stiffened. "I'll fight 'em."

Wolfram's eyes widened slightly at her sudden defensiveness. "Well, I thought you would have been among the ones who wanted nothing to do with me, seeing as you decided you hated my guts right of the bat," he responded slowly, watching her through narrowed eyes, "but, I think my suspicions where...wrong?"

"Dude." Bleddyn moved her left leg off of her right and began to restlessly kick both legs from beneath the car, forward, and then under again. "I'm me. I'll fight my own mother if I decide she's not in the right." Having noticed Ash discreetly watching the both of them, she replaced her tiny grin with a full sheepish smile then. "You ain't too bad."

"Thanks, Dyn. You aren't to bad yourself." Wolfram murmured, forcing a smile. "Still, some people here don't like me. Especially your dad, he sort of scares me, admittedly."

"Well, you are a cat and he's a wolf," Bleddyn pointed out deviously. "It's kind of a natural hostility."
