«We Could Be Legends»

Sherri was quiet on Brisa's lap, ginger tail tucked delicately over her pink nose. Her eyelids were drooped, but her ears were spread wide to catch the bits of conversation being tossed about. She wanted to impel her own questions, but of course, her current position required she be quiet.
Brisa absentmindedly stroked her friend’s furry ears, curling her arms around her in an effort to protect the cat from being thrown about by Wolfram’s panicked driving. Sighing, she leaned her head back against the car seat and stared out the window, wondering how she got into this situation.

"Oh." He said, turning extremely self conscious. Great. As if I didn't already hate my appearance, miss perfect-I-have-no-physical-issues is pointing out my glasses. "Yup, that Jessi. Jess!" Toby called out to her. Jessi turned around. "There you guys are! I was worried you guys got crushed under something!" She said, relieved to see them. "No, we're fine. I think we're going now." He replied, quickly walking out of the building towards the car.

"I agree," Indigo said, walking back toward the vehicle and starting it, glancing back at Toby's grim face one more time.
I wonder what he's thinking. I wish I could read minds. Is he worrying about the others, or bothered about me?
"We've got an advantage," Indigo told Jessi, almost gleefully.

Sherri purred softly, and was careful not to dig in her claws on the sharp turns, though she did lift her head once or twice.

"Hah, um, no, I'm driving. Keys." Toby said, pulling his glasses off and holding his hand out expectantly. Jessi rolled her eyes, climbing into the back of the car. "Just get in the car, Toby." He ignored her, and continued to wait for the keys.

Indigo parroted Jessi and sighed dramatically before shoving the keys into Toby's pale, cold hands. What ever made his hands so cold? She wondered. But her own icy touch was probably enough to freeze a penguin right now, so she wondered who the real victim was. Then Indigo climbed back by Jessi. "Does he drive ok?" She asked.

Wow, I can't believe she gave up so easily. Toby thought. He smiled in triumph, snatching the keys and climbed into the drivers seat. Jessi rolled her eyes at his visible excitement, and then turned to Indigo. "I mean, he drives himself to work and back a couple times a day, and so far hasn't been in any car related accidents that he's caused, so I think he drives okay." She said, trying to ease Indigo's worry, but most likely failing.

"Well, it can't be that bad then," Indigo decided, buckling herself in and staring daggers at a piece of dirt on the headrest on the seat in front of her.

"Ya know cars aren't soundproof, right guys? If you want to know something about me, whether it's my driving or something else, you can just ask me." Toby said, adjusting the rear view mirror.

"I'll remember that, then," Indigo said. "What's your favorite color?" She yelled across the van.

Toby flinched. "Please don't yell at me. If you were talking to me. Don't yell. If you were talking to me, either black or dark blue. If not, oops. Didn't we have this conversation already?" He said, starting the car and driving away.

Indigo almost laughed. "Yes, but we got a little sidetracked." She lowered her voice a key, before looking at Jessi.
