«We Could Be Legends»

Indigo almost laughed. "Yes, but we got a little sidetracked." She lowered her voice a key, before looking at Jessi.

"Oh." Toby said simply, and glanced in the mirror at her.
Jessi snorted. "You guys are adorable. When are you going to propose?" She teased. "Jessi! Not funny!" Toby snarled at her. Jessi laughed.

"What? You already met his parents, the next step in the relationship is marriage." Jessi said, taking great pleasure in how uncomfortable they were.
"Jessi! Stop!" Toby growled, chucking his backpack behind him at her. She laughed, and then frowned. "Dude, what all is in here? Bricks?" She asked.
"No, pliers so I can cut your tongue out if you keep talking."

Indigo nodded with satisfaction as Jessi was pummeled with a backpack. She pulled out what looked like some very heavy duct tape from the compartment next to the seat. "And if that doesn't work, this will shut you up. I've heard it's impossible to take off." It was actually just normal duct, tape, but how would Jessi know?

"Try and I'll bite you." Jessi said determinedly. "Um, let's not go around biting anyone, okay?" Toby replied to her.
"Awww, is it because you like her? How cute."
"No, it's because you live part time in my apartment. Any disease she has will be given to you, and then you could give them to me. I don't want to get sick." Too late for that now, I'm already touching someone else's steering wheel without sanitizing it first.
"Nice excuse. I heard what Indigo said to you while you guys were on the phone."
Toby glanced at Indigo through the mirror and nodded. "Duck tape, if you will." He said.

Indigo nodded and began peeling off a strip. "I can work with this. It's not often I have to do this procedure on the larger mouths, but..." she glanced out the window and jumped. A house was collapsing, but it didn't look very explosive. Pieces just seemed to rot before it collapsed. "That's odd. That doesn't seem like explosives. It seems to be rotting. And usually William is a genius at this stuff..."

"Yeah, you probably use duct tape whenever you're kidnapping someone. Oh wait, you could just knock them out." Toby said although there was no hate in his voice. Jessi smacked the back of his head. "Shush, you're ruining the perfect ship. You're the one that needs the duct tape." She said.
"Hey! No hitting with the driver!" Toby protested. He let out a very loud curse word as the building fell down next them. "See? He needs the duct tape." Jessi said, matter-of-factly.

"I see," Indigo smiled. But her brows creased as she was turning the vial over before putting it in her pocket. "But William is Faerie. There are ways to fool their senses. Like iron. Faeries can't handle iron. The exposure of the iron in the Multitude walls..." Indigo stared at the building remains. "Or, the buildings. He had to be out here to take those drone images, didn't he?" She wasn't really sure if Toby or anyone would answer, but she didn't like talking only to herself. At least Jessi had to be interested. She didn't know who that William fellow was.

"Who's William?" Jessi asked curiously. "Were you guys with him when you vanished and scared me half to death?"

A growing sense of dread crept into Wolfram, acutely aware he had killed his father in the very same driveway he had just pulled into. The ground was trampled and drenched with blood, but his fathers lifeless form was missing from where it had been under the tree. He shuddered, wondering if Mapleshade had taken it...
His lip curled in disgust as he pulled the keys from the car. "Someone call Jenna, let her know where we are," he growled, snatching his phone from the dashboard. Taylor...much as I hate her, she might be able to help. Oh God, what if something happened to Lily? What if she's...
He shuddered, shaking off the thought. No. Can't think about her anymore. I doesn't care about me, I shouldn't care about her. Hah! If only it was that easy.
He raised the phone to his ear, startled when it didn't even ring. He pulled it away, staring at it. "Scratch that. The—" He swore under his breath, "—phone lines are down."
