"You press the call button and it calls her," Indigo explained. Didn't everyone have cars like this nowadays?

"Oh." Jessi said, feeling rather stupid. Toby snickered, but quickly fell silent when she glared at him and raised her hand to smack him. He flinched. "Don't hit the driver." He mumbled. Jessi called Jenna.
"Hello?" Jenna answered.
"Hey mom, we were wondering where you guys are."
"Jessi? Thank goodness you're okay. Are you with your brother and the other lady?"
"You mean Indigo? Yeah, I'm with them." Jessi replied.
"Good. The others and I are at the old inhuman cave. Do you know where that is?"
"Yep. On our way now." Toby interrupted, driving towards the cave.

Wolfram shot a glare at the orange tabby cat, "This is the safest current spot. Out of the city, and I very much doubt Mapleshade will think we are taking refuge here," he answered sharply, shoving the car door open to meet Jenna. "Any sign of Connor and River?" As much as Connor scared him, he couldn't bear the thought that something may have happened to him, and River...well, isn't it obvious why I'm worried about her?

River narrowly dodged a decaying building, its debris falling in piles around her as she took a sharp turn to follow the path Wolfram's car had taken, not caring when she passed Connor and Misty. Her sons and nieces were in those cars, and she needed to stay with them. Let alone the others, like Bleddyn, Wolfram, and Ash who she also cared about.
She glanced towards the city, noticing the spiraling buildings at its heart shuddering, before crashing down in tumbles of dust and death, and she couldn't help but shiver as she noted that hundreds of people must have been dying. This has to be Mapleshade's work, but... Does that mean she set the key off? Why am I not... Dying? Is something wrong with the key? Or does it just target metal before inhumans?
She shook the worrisome thoughts out of her head, flicking her eyes around to study her surroundings as she raced onward. We're going to the battle field? Well, not the worst option. I'll take it right now.
She skid to a stop, nearly ramming face first into Wolfram, who's car had finally stopped and he had stepped out of it to seemingly speak to Jenna.
She shifted, her hair frizzled, and her hands looked painfully raw, small cuts littering them from running on the pavement in wolf form, and a longer cut on her left one from when Wolfram had cut her earlier.
"Is everyone okay?" She asked Wolfram curtly, her dark blue eyes fixated on him.

They both fell silent as Indigo spoke. After she was done speaking, Toby glanced at the screen. "This is how you get in an accident. I'm not touching it. Jess, put mom's number in it." He said. Jessi growled something, and climbed into the front of the car. She put Jenna's number in it, then looked at Indigo. "Ok, now what do I do?" She asked.

Jenna shook her head. "No. They should get here in a few minutes. Wolfs are fast, but cars are faster." She said.

Wolfram turned on her sharply, as if expecting her to be Mapleshade or a Pure member. He relaxed visibly when he saw who she was, "you're safe," he gave a long sign of relief, and nodded, "Camilla's shaken badly, but other then that..." His brows furrowed, "everyone is fine. To fine," he snorted, thinking how stupid he sounded by saying everyone was to fine. "What I mean is...the key is supposed to kill Inhumans...we should be...I mean, it's just sort of...strange, isn't it? Then again, I have no knowledge of how this poison exactly works."

Jenna parked next to Wolfram's car and got out. She looked around for the wolfs, hoping they were close behind and didn't get crushed under a building.

Connor huffed out his annoyance as River streamed by him. And once Misty cruised right by as well, he prepared to throw himself into the highest possible gear. Planning to call upon momentum to lend him an advantage, he bounded atop the next rubbish pile he came to. But as he made his descent, the telltale anguish of a pawstep placed wrong shot through his rear left leg. After he'd staggered the rest of the way down, he turned back to survey the damage. With a sinking heart, he saw not only blood, but a disheartening glimpse of white as well. Oh, come on...
After spitting the worst of wordless curses for whatever rogue piece of metal had caused him this detriment, Connor surged forward, but only at a pathetic tripping jog. A wild shudder rippled along his spine when a sizable chunk of brick fell close enough that his pelt lifted with its according draft. He wouldn't be catching up anytime soon.
The following impact actually didn't come as too much of a shock. It came hard and heartlessly, dropping him to the pavement instantly.
For a while, he lay motionless, more so fallen prey to his uncertainty rather than the physical inhibition. But after the first painful cough of existential assurance, he wormed a front paw out from beneath his chest, then another. But it was his hindquarters that were pinned by the massive chunk of decrepit plaster and wood. He struggled with his free half--pretty much just shoulders--but to no avail.
It was increasingly tempting to howl out a summons for one of his advancing companions, but a dangerous hybrid of pride and spite kept his muzzle clamped. When his grimy plagued eyes traveled down to his chest, he recoiled slightly when a streak of spreading scarlet screamed out from a sea of tousled black.
I'm...this is fine. Just a bit of a detour.

A growing sense of dread crept into Wolfram, acutely aware he had killed his father in the very same driveway he had just pulled into. The ground was trampled and drenched with blood, but his fathers lifeless form was missing from where it had been under the tree. He shuddered, wondering if Mapleshade had taken it...
His lip curled in disgust as he pulled the keys from the car. "Someone call Jenna, let her know where we are," he growled, snatching his phone from the dashboard. Taylor...much as I hate her, she might be able to help. Oh God, what if something happened to Lily? What if she's...
He shuddered, shaking off the thought. No. Can't think about her anymore. I doesn't care about me, I shouldn't care about her. Hah! If only it was that easy.
He raised the phone to his ear, startled when it didn't even ring. He pulled it away, staring at it. "Scratch that. The—" He swore under his breath, "—phone lines are down."

Brisa peered out the window at the blood-soaked ground, shocked at the amount of damage. “Darn...” she whispered, glancing at the others with wide eyes. “This must have been quite a fight.”

Wolfram twisted around to look at her, shrugging a shoulder, "this whole thing has been quite a fight," he murmured. He took a deep breath, "ok. We wait here for a bit, see if Jenna and the others find us. Regardless if they do or not, we find this Gage guy, and see if he knows anything about the poison, and if it's still going kill us. If we can't...well, I guess we'll figure it out from there. Somehow."

Jenna parked next to Wolfram's car and got out. She looked around for the wolfs, hoping they were close behind and didn't get crushed under a building.

'Hey, that's Jenna!' Sherri said. She nudged Brisa before jumping on her lap and looking about.

'Its not,' Sherri flicked her ears. She's been here before, and therefore knows about this place. We should go somewhere farther out of town. Or one if the many other secluded areas. If you could see the fight from the road, it is neither out of town nor hidden.

Ash staggered out of the car, a few shades lighter than pale. She took in her surroundings in silence for a while before speaking in a sad little voice. "River, they're behind you right?"
"Mom, please, chill." Standing on the vans' running board, Bleddyn put her hands on her mothers' shoulders for a moment before she went ahead and jumped down. She turned to face Ash with an earnestly compassionate expression; after mentally nullifying all of her morals, she threw her arms around her mother. "Everyone's okay."
Gaping, Ash stood there in stupefied silence while Bleddyn hugged her.

If we can't...well, I guess we'll figure it out from there. Somehow."

"Yes. He was a Faerie and gave us something that could neutralize the poison. Problem is, I think it already was released. If the iron was decaying at a high rate it could impair his vision, and also the processing functions of his brain. I think the poison melts iron somehow," Indigo explained. She pulled out the vial of gold dust.

Sherri stretched and lept up from Brisa's lap, paws and nose pressed on the window, pink lips curled back at the tangy scent of blood. She was spared for the most part from the disgusting scene, however, as all she could see were tones of grey. She could tell people had gone and went, though. There was a fight.
'Could have chosen a safer, cleaner place to reconvene?' She asked incredulously. Sherri lost her barely contained balance and landed on the floor, winding between Brisa's legs before finding a conveniently clean place to flop on her side and stare at everyone eerily through hooded green eyes.

Jessi nodded in acknowledgment. "How can we stop it?" She asked. Since Indigo was a member of the Multitude, and also the oldest and therefore the wisest of anyone in the car, they both expected her to have an answer.
After a minute, Toby spoke. "So uh, Ind - can I call you Ind? I'm gonna call you Ind. Ind, where, exactly, are we going?" He asked.
"Seriously? You wanted to drive but you don't even know where we're going? Next time let someone else drive, dummy." Jessi said, rewarding him with another smack to the back of the head.
"For the last time don't hit the driver!" Toby growled. "That is, unless you want to fly. Then go ahead, I don't mind pulling over so you can get out."
"Why don't you pull over to let Indigo drive?"
"No."
Jessi rolled her eyes. "Stubborn donkey." She muttered.
"Better a stubborn donkey than a flying lizard. At least I'm useful." Jessi growled, preparing to smack him again.

Don't promise that, Bleddyn! No one is ok, half the city is most likely dead!
But somehow Wolfram couldn't bring himself to say anything, only look at River with a expression that could only be described as pained, "just wait, Brisa. He'll come," he huffed, tugging absentmindedly at the hem of his sweatshirt, "not all wolves are as fast as River, and he ran after Mapleshade with me. He's probably just tired..." I hope.

Brisa nodded, her eyes skirting over the strained look on his face before she glanced away toward the way they had come, shielding her eyes from the sun as she watched for anyone coming. Something felt off to her.

River resisted the urge to sigh with relief at the news of everyone being fine. We're not out of the woods yet. And we're definitely not fine. "That's... To be expected, her being shaken. At least she can feel... Something." She shook her head, before refocusing on Wolfram. "I was thinking about that on the way here. When Firestein poured the poison on Gage, nothing but his inhuman traits dissipated, which was his wings. They melted off in a black sludge... And it happened immediately. So, unless something was wrong with the poison, we should, technically, be puddles right now."

River glanced at Ash, stupefied to see Bleddyn actually hugging her mother. "Yeah, I just passed 'em up. Connor and Misty will be here in no time." She assured Ash and Brisa.
Her head swung around as Lachlan and Finlay lept out of Jenna's van, slowly walking to their mother in sullen silence, and meeting her open embrace for several moments before backing off.
She, again, whirled as Camilla slid out of Wolfram's car, her expression scarily blank, and sided up with her aunt mutely.
~
"So... Maple-whatever set off the key? Is something wrong with it...? It hasn't affected any of us yet." Finlay asked no one in particular, but was glancing between River and Wolfram expectantly, knowing that, in this situation, they were more or less the leaders in the angsty rag-tag group.

Wolfram glanced between River, Lachlan, Finlay and Camilla, feeling a stab of sympathy for the terrified girl. "Something must be wrong with it," he answered Finlay, turning to him slowly, "your mother says that when Firestein poured the poison on Gage's wings, they melted off instantly. So, if the poison really was working correctly...that means that we would be dead right now. But..." His frown deepened, "Mapleshade didn't pour the poison directly on us like Firestein did with Gage. So it could still kill us, but will take longer to work. But that doesn't make sense, seeing as it's most likely the same poison Firestein used..." He looked at River almost expectantly.
"But if the poison actually isn't working properly, what's causing it to act up? Maybe my mother added something to it to stop it from killing Inhumans? But why would she do that if she worked so hard on it?" To many questions, not enough time, not enough answers.
