Sherri fixated on the scene unraveling before her. Bleddyn hurtling towards her dad, Wolfram engaging in a verbal battle with Mapleshade, Ash's incredible abilities; the Multitude, or whatever creatures they were fighting the Pure.
It was difficult to focus on any one thing, and soon instead of fighting, she was assembling a string of theories. They were intriguing theories but didn't require the priority or attention that her brain unconsciously gave them.
The Multitude. They probably weren't here. That's why the Pure raided their base. So they wouldn't stop them. Only half of their plan worked, but it was enough.
'I thought she wanted to use it against me' So maybe Wolfram's mother wanted to use the poison on someone. Wolfram's dad? Wolfram himself? Maybe she wanted to make a way to become human -like her- if he wanted to. Or had some more sinister purpose. Maybe Wolf reminded her of his dad too much. Maybe she didn't want a son like him. Sherri quickly rejected that spot. Wolf would oppose it violently. Maybe his mom was making it for someone...
Suddenly, screaming overloaded Sherri's preoccupied senses. As a gloved hand grasped her face, the world crumbled around her as bodies scrambled to escape. Escape what, exactly? Her ears hurt too much to comprehend their frantic yelling. Another body tackled her to the ground, but the person seemed to have no motive other than their own survival. For support? She wasn't sure.
Her vision blacked, and a split second later she saw the earth close around her, sealing her and the Pure into a suffocating fate. Now all she could do was wonder whether they would continue the fight -on what could be their very last breaths- underground.
Indigo pressed her finger into his shoulder before looking into his eyes. "No. You need help first." She closed her eyes to release a bit of her power to clear his head and force out the shadows, then hesitated. "I suppose I'll need your permission first from now on."
