«We Could Be Legends»

River watched his panicked expression turn to a startling calm, and smirked. "Smart kid. But I'm not lying. He is your half-brother, believe it or not, I don't really care. And listen, Alec. You're right, don't trust people you don't know, but still heed them." She said, ears twitching when she heard Wolfram's fist hit the van, his words floating up through the air.

Lachlan shifted his weight uncomfortably, unsure of what to exactly say. "You didn't have a choice, Michael would've killed Alice, or Toby, or Mom. And Mapleshade wouldn't have stopped until all of us were dead. We gave them chances to stop, but they didn't. Wouldn't." He murmured, watching as Wolfram punched the car in anger. "I... To be honest, I don't know. Just... Maybe try to make him trust you, first? I bet Maple and Michael messed his head up pretty bad, he doesn't even sound like a kid. He's got no one anymore, except maybe you."
Alec quietly regarded her, not even flinching as he heard a bang against the side of the van, instead his gaze slowly turned to it, then back at River. "Maybe." He responded shortly, giving nothing else but that.

Wolfram knew Lachlan was right. He knew, realistically, that Michael and Maple would have gone to any lengths to obliterate every single one of them. And Maple had gone to so many; killing her best friend, kidnapping a group of teenagers, nearly killing most of them and killing some. How much further would they have gone had he not stopped them, he didn't know the answer.
But he wished that the answer hadn't been death. Neither of them would have surrendered, no, they would rather have died then surrender to them, and they did just that.
But if I had known, if I had just known that they had sons, it would be different. God, I'm so stupid, I should have known that there was more then just plain hatred going on there, I'm such an idiot.
"I know," he rasped, letting his gaze drop to the ground. What do I know, though? What am I even saying?
"I just...I can't..." Can't look at him without reminding yourself that you killed his parents, that yet another child has been orphaned?
He shrugged, his hand falling away from the van. "Thank you, Lach." He gave a small smile, then moved past him towards River and Alec. Here goes nothing.

Alice shook her head, "Is it Saturday night?" She asked, half hopeful she'd only missed that much. "I guess it's possible." She said her eyes falling on one of the bodies dressed in black lying on the ground. "If they did do something, I should be able to heal myself." A nervous twinge started her heart beating faster. "Maybe that's a bad idea though."
"It's Monday," Crow said, then studied the sky. "Actually it's probably midnight by now." He followed her gaze, noticing for the first time a pile of red dust by the Pure's hand. Weird. "What?" He realized what she'd said a moment later. "Why?"

Toby knew it would be impossible to not feel guilty, but he nodded anyway.
He watched her stand up, expecting her to just walk away. But instead, she held out her hand.
He hesitated, but slowly and shakily grabbed her hand in his. Holding her hand felt almost childish, but it was surprisingly comforting, not to mention warm. The warmth almost made him be able to feel his frozen fingertips.
(and I actually don't know where to lead him.)
Indigo lead him toward the van, disappointed to see that the camp stove had disintegrated at that the van was crumbling before their eyes.
”Well, it looks like we're going to have to find another way out of here,” her voice darkened. A small, curious girl looked and their pale hands, dark hair, and purple eyes. ”Is he your little brother?” she asked, sucking on one of her blond locks.

Toby looked up at Indigo, a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. Before she had a chance to say anything, Toby’s eyes widened slightly, making himself look younger, if that was even possible. He leaned into Indigo’s arm, and nodded. “Yes. Yes I am. She’s a great sister,” he said, his voice sounding extremely childlike. His eyes flicked up to Indigo, giving her a big smile, before they went back to the girl. “What’s your name?” He asked. “Do you know where your parents are?”

(Monday - going in to Tuesday ;) )

"Three days?" She whispered worry creasing her brow. She broke her eyes away from the still body, to look dully back at Crow. She didn't know how to answer. She didn't want to admit she was afraid to know. Afraid of the emotions that knew she wouldn't have the strength to hold back. She shook her head, raising her hands to broadly gesture to their surroundings. "I need to be here in case they come back. Not lost in the past."

(Ugghhh, yeah, wow. I'm falling asleep here. This feels like it took longer than an hour to write, sorry it took as long as it did. I'm gonna have to be done for the night.)

The girl stood up on her tiptoes, letting the hair fall out of her mouth.
"Oh. I have a great big sister too!" the girl exclaimed. "My name is Kaitlyn and my mom's over there." She stuck a chubby little finger at a woman who appeared to be disturbed by the decay of the van and equipment. The girl stuck her pale arms out. "But I don't know where my dad is. He's supposed to be at work right now, but he should come home soon."
Indigo bit her lip. The girl didn't know it, but it was likely that her dad would never come home from work.
"Well it's very nice to meet you, Kaitlyn. Why don't we visit your mother?"
"Okay!" the girl chirped, running to the woman she had pointed out earlier.
"Hello M'am," Indigo said. The woman eyed her and Toby with scrutiny, no doubt noticing the unusual size difference.
"Mommy, these people are brother and sister," the girl explained.
Indigo peered at Toby. Now look what trouble you've gotten us into.

Toby was relieved to see the girls mother was alive and close by. He was also surprised at how well the girl was taking everything. “Kaitlyn is a very nice name.” he said softly, smiling at the girl.
He followed Indigo and Kaitlyn towards the woman. Toby stopped as the woman examined him, inching behind Indigo.
He winced, giving Indigo a nervous smile as Kaitlyn announced they were siblings. “Sorry,” he mumbled apologetically. “But hey, being your brother is better than being your son, right?”

Indigo turned that over in her mind. Ummmm... yes?
The woman stared at them for a few, awkward moments. Indigo still felt the coolness of Toby's hand in her palm.
"Well, I sure am glad everyone is doing good over here!" Indigo exclaimed, louder than necessary. The woman suddenly lost interest and Indigo dragged Toby away with her.

Toby bit his lip, cringing at the awkwardness. He flinched as Indigo loudly broke it, and stumbled after her as she dragged him away. “Yeah, um, I-I’m sorry about that. It was just supposed to be a joke. I didn’t know she would announce it like that, although I should’ve, considering how young she is...”

"It's fine," Indigo said, studying her nails. She often did that after using her abilities, almost as though she could see that the power had been released. "Little Toby." She released his hand and patted him on the head.
