"Okay, one moment. Who are you?" Crow asked, now looking directly at Freddie. "What are you taking about? Mapleshade's dead." He crossed his arms. "You sure you don't have a concussion?"
"I'm Deputy Fredrick Chapman. I met most of you yesterday. I mean... Saturday night." He glanced over at Alice who was watching him warily from behind the others. "Mapleshade? I'm talking about Lance. He was an associate of Firestein's and the person who founded the organization called 'The Pure'." Freddie studied Crow as he spoke squinting at him in confusion, was it possible he was wrong? "I spoke with," Freddie looked around at the different faces trying to spot them. "Emily, and Sherri Lastless. They said the Pure had kidnapped a bunch of people, from River's house."

"Uhh, not you specifically. I meant, all of you." Freddie adjusted his cap frowning at her, Crow, and Toby. He'd come here with a plan, but it wasn't going to work with out any weapons. "I- " Freddie looked between Crow, River, and Ash, they were the only adults here that were part of the original heroes. He sighed and rubbed a hand across his forehead smearing soot and blood. "I know who's after you. I had a plan. But, I don't think it's going to work now." Freddie sighed closing his eyes to try to concentrate. "Sorry I didn't sleep much since I saw you last." He admitted, despite knowing that saying that didn't inspire much trust in what he was saying. "I know who he is. But there isn't anyone else. Everyone in the police station when it fell are either dead or trapped. I'm going to need help to catch him. To stop this."

Toby’s eyes lit up as the police officer approached. “Charlie?” He asked. Upon hearing the man speak, his face fell. That was definitely not Charlie.
Toby took a few cautious steps towards Freddie, squinting at the patch on Freddie’s arm to try to see which department he was from. Maybe he would know Charlie, and that he was safe.
His eyes widened at the mention of the police officers in the station all being dead or stuck. “Wh-what do you mean? All of them?” Toby asked in an almost whisper, his hand gripping tightly on the handle of Alpha’s vest. Nonono. That can’t be right. Surely Charlie made it out okay. He has to. He thought. Alpha pawed at Toby’s leg, bumping his chest with his nose in an attempt to distract and calm Toby down.

Alec quietly regarded her, not even flinching as he heard a bang against the side of the van, instead his gaze slowly turned to it, then back at River. "Maybe." He responded shortly, giving nothing else but that.

Wolfram knew Lachlan was right. He knew, realistically, that Michael and Maple would have gone to any lengths to obliterate every single one of them. And Maple had gone to so many; killing her best friend, kidnapping a group of teenagers, nearly killing most of them and killing some. How much further would they have gone had he not stopped them, he didn't know the answer.
But he wished that the answer hadn't been death. Neither of them would have surrendered, no, they would rather have died then surrender to them, and they did just that.
But if I had known, if I had just known that they had sons, it would be different. God, I'm so stupid, I should have known that there was more then just plain hatred going on there, I'm such an idiot.
"I know," he rasped, letting his gaze drop to the ground. What do I know, though? What am I even saying?
"I just...I can't..." Can't look at him without reminding yourself that you killed his parents, that yet another child has been orphaned?
He shrugged, his hand falling away from the van. "Thank you, Lach." He gave a small smile, then moved past him towards River and Alec. Here goes nothing.
River watched the boy with her intense stare, her tail swishing back and forth slowly. "Wait here." She growled ruffly, realizing someone new was approaching, and slipped out of the car, nearly accidentally shoulder checking Wolfram. "Try to not screw him up even worse." She said jokingly to Wolfram as she past him, trying to force her voice to be playful, somehow.

Lachlan nodded, shuffling after Wolfram as he neared the boy, curious as to what would happen.
His eyes met his mother's as she passed by, a pang of sadness shooting through him at her broken look to her. She's lost so much. He thought, glancing behind him to catch a glimpse of Fredrick before Crow, Indigo, Toby, and River crowded around him. Isn't that the officer who brought to the news of Uncle Thomas dying?

"Officer Fredrick, good to see you made it out." River murmured blankly, stalking up to them and passing by Crow and Indigo, eyeing the police officer, hoping secretly he could help, maybe even tell her if Gage, Sammy, or Zen were okay. But something is the back of her mind also made her uneasy, probably the fact that she'd been a criminal since she was fourteen. "Who did you say you thought did this?"

"Err, wasn't Lance the snake man?" Finlay asked, glancing from person to person. He hadn't been there when they looked at the folders, only knowing by what Lachlan and Camilla had told him.

Camilla shuffled up behind Finlay and River, eyeing the officer. I remember him. He told us about Dad, and Mom. "A lot more's happened since then." She mumbled, gesturing around them. "How do you expect us to even find him?" She asked, some of her usual cockiness starting to return.

He nodded, glad he had too. "A man named Gerald Lance Thane, though he goes by his middle name. He worked in New Zealand 20 years ago, he worked with Firestein as the head of operations over there. Since then, he's been gathering others, who share his point of view on inhumans not being clean or something. He's an inhuman himself so I'm not sure where that all's coming from, but it is what it is. Since Firestein disappeared 20 years ago, he's been the one running things." He paused for a breath, and to gauge their reaction to what he'd said so far.

"Folders? He does look kind of snake like yes." Freddie said frowning at Finley, he hadn't meant to glare at the boy it was the only way he was keeping his sleepy eyes open.

"I think I know where he is or at least, where he was." He answered, and then nervously scratched at the back of his neck. "Though it's not going to be safe going down there. I imagine they probably still have working weapons, no one sets off something like that with out preparing for it first."

River nodded, thinking deeply. "Matches what I know. I had assumed Mapleshade or Michael had taken over since Firestein was killed, but I guess they may not have." She mumbled to herself, then her eyes sharpened and focused on Fredrick. "If Lance is still out there, assuming he hasn't been killed by falling debris or..." She glanced at the battle field behind her, eyeing the bodies before turning back to the officer. "...Angry inhumans, he'll be trying to escape the city, with some Pure to protect him. Do you know if there's any highways that aren't blocked, or--" She pinched the bridge of her nose with a sigh. "-- Or if that God-cursed train-station is still operational? The rails have probably melted by now, but that's where I'd go first. That's where it all started."

"Ah." Finlay nodded, unsure of what to say. You're always so awkward, get a grip.

"And that being...?" Camilla asked, cocking an eyebrow. Her parents had never really told her about Firestein. Thomas had wanted to, she'd heard them arguing about it once, he had said he wanted to tell her and Alice so they could 'protect themselves' but Tayn had disagreed. Mom, why couldn't you have let him tell us? Maybe we could've been prepared.

"I'm gonna assume the underground ex-police station that Firstein used." Finlay said to her, trying his best to piece everything together.

(Oops )

Crow rubbed his arm. "Well.." he hesitated, "if you want to wait, you should. But I think you should try to find out eventually."
Then, he heard something. He looked around, then spotted Freddie. Crow could see he wearing police uniform, but for all he knew the police blamed the inhumans for everything. Wouldn't be the first time. He walked over to Indigo. "Who is this?"

"Uhh, not you specifically. I meant, all of you." Freddie adjusted his cap frowning at her, Crow, and Toby. He'd come here with a plan, but it wasn't going to work with out any weapons. ”Who is ’he’?” Indigo asked, wiping a shiny black curl away from her pale, ash-covered face. She bore surprising semblance to a dusty piece of fine china.

Indigo’s mind whirled as she tried to recollect all that had gone on with her mother and who she had been tangled with while Indigo was young.
”So...” she said. ”The Pure is a lot older than we think. It wasn't inspired by the creeps you saved the world from, it was the creeps you saved the world from.”
